The GM Authority Take
GM Mexico sales increased in a healthy fashion in February 2023, marking a recovery from the notable drop suffered during the first month of the year. In this way, the automaker gets back on track after a commercial setback in January, which put an end to nine consecutive months of growth in the Latin country.
Most of the models offered by GM Mexico were in the green in February, led by the Chevy Captiva, Groove and Silverado. In addition, the high volume seen by the Chevy Aveo particularly stands out, representing a significant improvement of more than 2,000 units compared to the prior month. This record corresponds entirely to the outgoing generation sedan model, further consolidating the Aveo as the company’s best-selling vehicle in Mexico.
Also worth mentioning is the very healthy performance of premium crossovers from the Buick, Cadillac and GMC brands with double- and triple-digit increases, as well as the excellent performance of the Chevy S10 Max. The entry-level midsize pickup managed to overtake the Toyota Hilux for the second sales position in the segment in February with 1,175 deliveries, slightly higher than the 1,166 units recorded by the Japanese model.
