The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Korea sales recorded a noteworthy, double-digit decline in August. The performance represents the sixth consecutive monthly decline in Chevy sales in the South Korean market, where the brand’s sales volume has been in the red since March due to the ongoing shortage of semiconductors as well as new outbreaks of COVID-19.

As in previous months, most of the nameplates suffered noteworthy drops in sales during in August, including the Chevy Spark, which for years has been the brand’s best-selling model in the Asian country. On a positive note, the Trailblazer crossover saw a healthy growth rate of 17 percent, consolidating its position as Chevrolet’s most popular vehicle in South Korea both during August as well as during the cumulative first eight months of the 2021 calendar year.

Additionally, the 689 deliveries of the Chevy Colorado represent the midsize pickup truck’s highest monthly sales figure thus far in 2021. The results also represent the model’s second consecutive monthly growth after a solid 49 percent increase in July.
