Chevrolet Colombia Sales Down 64 Percent In September 2021

Chevrolet Colombia sales decreased 64 percent to 1,262 units in September 2021. The figures rank GM as the second largest automaker in the country, with Chevrolet finishing as second best-selling automobile brand, behind Renault.

Colombian auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Colombia:

During the first nine months of the 2021 calendar year, Chevrolet Colombia sales increased 13 percent to 24,709 units.

The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Colombia sales decreased drastically in September, deepening the negative performance of the Bow Tie brand in the South American country. In fact, last month’s performance not only represents Chevrolet’s third consecutive monthly decline in the Colombian market, but also the worst result so far this year.

The sharp decline is primarily the result of a lack of Chevy Onix / Joy inventory. The model, which is imported from Brazil, remains the best-selling vehicle in Colombia during the first nine months of the 2021 calendar year. As such, the Chevy Onix suffered a massive, nearly triple-digit drop in September, resulting in the lowest sales figure in the model’s history so far.

Additionally, the Beat and Tracker also posted large year-over-year declines that contributed to the negative overall result.

Chevy NHR Truck

Only the N-Series truck line managed to post an increase in sales volume, including the most popular NHR that has established itself as the best-selling commercial vehicle in the country. The models are sold in Colombia as a result of a long-standing business partnership with Isuzu.
