The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Korea sales experienced a marked, double-digit decline in July that saw volume reduced by 2,102 units compared to the 6,988 deliveries in July 2020. This negative performance represents the fifth consecutive month that Chevrolet sales have declined in South Korea, where the Bow Tie brand has been affected by the global microchip shortage along with new outbreaks of COVID-19 that have limited some activities in the Asian country.

Once again, the vast majority of the models offered by Chevrolet in the South Korean market suffered significant sales declines, including the best-selling Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Trailblazer. Both models are produced locally. Despite reporting a 20 percent reduction on an annual basis, the Trailblazer crossover was once again Chevrolet’s best-selling model in Korea both in July and during the cumulative first seven months of 2021.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Colorado was the only model that saw an increase in sales volume in July, posting a healthy increase of 48.5 percent. This was the result of more favorable availability of the midsize pickup in the South Korean market.
