Cadillac CT4 sales performance during the third quarter of 2020 places the compact sedan model in last place in its segment by overall sales volume. The space was led by the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and CLA-Class in first for a combined 6,181 deliveries. The BMW 2 Series took second place with 4,190 units, while the Acura ILX took fourth place with 3,938 units. Fifth place went to the Audi A3 family with 2,555 deliveries.

From a segment share standpoint, the A-Class and CLA-Class accounted for 21 and 12 percent, respectively, combining for combined 33 percent of the segment. The 2 Series accounted for 23 percent segment share, while the Acura and Audi held up 21 and 14 percent each. The Cadillac CT4 accounted for an 8 percent share.
The luxury compact car segment (lux C-segment) expanded 11 percent to 18,400 units in Q3 2020.
The GM Authority Take
Cadillac CT4 sales during the third quarter of 2020 represented the very first Q3 deliveries for the new model. Sales volume was constrained as a result of limited availability at the dealer level.
It’s worth noting that the very first units of the CT4 began arriving at dealers during the second half of Q1 2020. That was quickly followed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, resulting in a two-month-long shutdown of U.S. GM production operations, including the GM Lansing Grand River plant that produces the CT4. As a result, initial shipments quickly sold out, resulting in sub-par inventory going into the third quarter.
We expect Cadillac CT4 sales to grow substantially during the fourth quarter of the year, so long as supply/production is uninterrupted.

Hey morons, GM, Ford and Chrysler (whatever they’re called today…???) pays UAW $30.00 more per hour in wages and benefits than the other US Citizens employed by other automakers. So to build the exact same vehicle our US mfrs cannot make the same profits as their competition. That said ZERO employees at the other mfr’s want the UAW or a union, NONE. So GM is forced to build a vehicle that is either not competitive OR much more expensive but competitive. They elect to make pos vehicles. This was all 3 of their undoing leading to bankruptcy and they’re still in that same situation thanks to the Barry Soetoro team.
In a global economy you’ve got to build the best and make the most $$ or fall behind and thats what GM has done. Move jobs to Mexico saves money and increases profits. I don’t advocate that but what GM should have done last year is say we’re done w/the UAW and we’ll pay competitive wages and benefits to folks that want to work here, just like all the other auto mfrs…. the UAW is a cancer and will bankrupt GM / Ford again, you simply cannot have that much of a price disadvantage and survive….
This is another reason GM is hedging everything on EV as ALL vehicles in their portfolio will essentially have the same running gear. Different bodies on the same platform plus the elimination of ton’s of systems and consolidation across the portfolio. They will surely die if EV’s aren’t accepted within the next decade…

You do know, that just because warranty fixes your vehicle does not mean it does not have troubles right ?

BUT how did you buy your Cadillac? Did you buy it new or used?
If you bought it used, theres a chance the person before you abused the car and didnt take care of it.
If you bought it new, did you break in the car properly? Did you take care of the car? Also if your Cadillac has a turbo engine, did you care for it properly?? Because most people I know who drive turbo engines have no clue what theyre doing. Such as you should never rev a turbo engine above 2500 rpm when the engine oil is cold, you should never turn off your car when the engine oil is too hot, you should use premium fuel if you dont want your turbo engine to burn oil (damaged piston rings), etc, etc. You cant blame the car company for human errors.

GN: Funny thing. I had a 2014 Chevy Cruz with the diesel when I drove Uber a few years ago. Fantastic car. Fantastic MPG. Very durable. The part I didn’t understand though was how many people would get in my car and they thought it was an Audi or MB. Of course, I proudly corrected them letting them know it was a Chevy.
But more than that, show me any car that doesn’t have plastic all over inside? A few weeks ago I was in a nearly brand new MB GLA for my Uber. From the back seat it was totally plastic everywhere. Harsh ride and noisy as heck. So do you go on other import sites and bash them like you do here?
Hey, my girl drives a 18 Chevy Cruz diesel. She averages 42 mpg in town and 50 plus on highway. Great car. But it’s a chevy, it’s supposed to have plastic and be economical. That’s what we got it for, because she was driving 80 miles a day to work before the rona and it’s stupid to put all those miles on the caddy running premium with those twin turbos. Paid 20k for it and it stickered for 27k. Damn thing has been a great car but it hardly moves now since she works from home. We don’t know what we’re going to do with it. As to plastic, my blackwing has leather over everything. Dash, door panels, steering wheel horn, glovebox and even alcantera headliner. Like a cadillac should.
GN: I really liked my Cruz diesel too. 55 on the highway no matter if driving 60 or 80. Just a tank. I put a lot of miles on that thing fast.
I personally think the CT6 is/was the absolute nicest Cadillac in years. Does yours have the Bose Panaray sound system? I had the pleasure of listening to that on a demo. Best sound I’ve ever heard in a car.

Seems like the Audi A4, is $39,100.00, and that’s only AWD so add that, with the STANDARD options of the A4, I tried to get the CT4 options close to the A4 and $36,970.00 is where I am at and that’s the Cadillac CT4 VS a Audi A4.
Audi A3 compares with the CT4. Audi A4 compares with the CT5. Also Audi is a FRONT WHEEL BIAS AWD system, meaning it always runs on FRONT WHEEL DRIVE unless it loses traction then it sends power to the rear. The Cadillacs are REAR WHEEL DRIVE, with the optional AWD system. You can have your front wheel drive Audi, I would rather have REAR WHEEL DRIVE aka REAL WHEEL DRIVE. If it doesnt have rear wheel drive, it’s not a real sports car.
Cadillac CT4 and ATS has the same chassis as a Camaro. And used to share the same 2.0L turbo and v6 engines. Now the CT4 has a newer and weaker 2.0L turbo but still has the same chassis as a Camaro. So to answer your question, the closest car to a Cadillac CT4 is a Camaro.

badge worshippers are people who buy Audi, Benz, BMW, etc simply because of the BRAND NAME. I buy cars based on PERFORMANCE NUMBERS. I dont buy a Camaro because it’s a Chevy. I buy a Chevy because its a Camaro. Most people who buy Benz, BMW, Audi dont even care whats in their car, all they see is the brand name and they go for it.

For $30k CAD my options were Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla or Camaro 2.0T. For $30k the Camaro was the most performance in that price range. 5.4s 0-60 with really good handling.
It’s all about how much performance you get out of each dollar.
When you ask a Chevy guy “what car do you drive”?
They will answer “Camaro” or “Corvette” or “Blazer” etc.

Every Cadillac Dealer has dozens of these cars sitting on the lot. There’s no inventory issue.
So, are you GN or Gn? Or are you one in the same. Since you can’t just go in and change your online name/sign, I’m really curious how you answer this one. And can you answer me without bashing GM/Cadillac?

One in the same. Not sure why it does that. Brother, I don’t hate GM. I own a Grand National, a CTS V Sport and a CT6 Blackwing. I hate what Cadillac has become. They went back to building rebadged chevy junk. The CT4 and CT5 and terrible compared to the CTS. The crossovers are terrible across the board. I know because I get them for loaner cars when either of my cadillacs are in for service. Don’t take my word for it, all the car mags went from raving about how great the cts was to how bad the CT5 is. Cadillac isn’t long for this earth. And I know I understand no one bought the expensive cts or ct6, besides myself so they gave up and went back to building cheap subpar cars. And this nonsense that their low sales is due to inventory when my dealer has had dozens all year is ridiculous. I wish they had limited inventory so I wouldn’t get them as loaner cars from my dealer.
GN: Now we are talking! Love the Grand National. I personally like the CTS better than the CT5 both out and inside. And the CT6 Blackwing is the car! Thanks for sharing that.
So my interest in Cadillac dates way back and I’ve sold them for a total of 14 years. Owned several new and used along with a lot of other cars. Living in southern California now, the parking is so bad and drivers are terrible, so I’ve opted for something cheap and reliable for just a driver. But I don’t feel the new CT4 and CT5 are that bad when you compare to other brands like them. I can tell you for sure that I’m really tired of the black or tan interiors. They need more colors. Better textures. I will give Volvo credit here. They may have some of the nicer interiors in the market and they offer a few more colors too. Even though I’m selling them, I still prefer Cadillac.

Today, the inventory issue has been resolved. In Q3, there was an inventory issue. Different timeframes.

We are Cadillac drivers, 5, and two at one time, like you.
2004 CTS, still have this vehicle in storage, and a 2005 STS AWD NorthStar for a short while to a 2005 SRX NorthStar AWD !
OK, so we skipped a generation of CTS as we drive them longer than GM makes Cadillac any longer.
We thought ” no big deal, we loved the look of the next generation CTS and the one to follow could only get better” , right ?
But NO, Not Cadillac, the CTS you are talking about, I think is the 14 up to the CT5, is it ?
When we went to replace the BEST VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER OWNED, our 2004 CTS, we test drove the CTS first. Its my wife’s car mostly, and after the first 3 miles she said to the salesman, is this car bigger, it seem bigger, nope this is not going to work !!
And it is and was a BEAUTIFUL vehicle ! And with the 3.6 we could have ordered would have bee GREAT !
AGAIN the vehicle we test drove was the 2.0T, because that’s ALL the dealers would stock ( just like the CT5 ) but that was OK as we owned the 3.6 and knew what we were up against.
Long story short, we chose this beautiful Cadillac ATS, yep a little to small, but it was my wife’s decision as she mostly drive it. And she loves it, we both love the ATS,
BUT it is a PIECE OF $HIT, I could go on yet will not because something tell me you already know !
Question, If the 2014 CTS, I think you own, was the same size as the 2004… and 2010… BUT just as nice as the 2014…. , would you have bought it ?
Because I feel it was my wife and even a few of her friends, type people, who no longer replaced their CTS, CTS, then foreign, yet we got this POS ATS !
What do you think, would you have bought the CTS V in the 2010 size just as nice as the 2014 ?

I love my Spark because it’s an amazing car for a cheap car. Does exactly what I need it to do. I don’t love that it’s kind of a slug from 20 to 50 MPH for acceleration and I don’t love that there is little room in it. But that’s the car and I decided to buy it because it was a super cheap car and economical to boot.
I love my 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL V8 too. I don’t love the minor oil drips on my garage floor (hey, it’s a Northstar!!). But I purchased it use and it has a lot of miles, so I already knew it would drip oil. But you don’t see me going from I love it to it’s a POS or junk in the same comment (or ever for that matter). That’s the sign of an unstable person.
Yeah, that Northstar has prob 180,000.00 !
My 05 SRX had 145,000 miles and no drips, loved it !
Not this POS ATS with 50,000.00000001 miles POS
It sits in the garage next to our 2004 CTS that has NO DRIPS under it !

Cadillac should have increased the size of the CT4 and made it the CT5. The CT4 exterior looks way better.
How did the ATS fo when it first came out?
Since everyone is commenting on the fact I said this car was amazing. Here’s some information to clarify. My 21 CT4 2.7L 10sp. AWD with every option available MSRP + Taxes ect. $61590 here in Canada. In my driveway with financing for 84 months 0% $55700. 310 Hp and 350 lb.ft. (preferred pricing)
20 AMG 35 AWD with 2.0L and 7 speed. 302 Hp and 295 lb. ft. for the MSRP $63480. Taxes $71735. Plus additional financing rates at 3.99% for only 72 months. (no preferred pricing) The cars are comparable apples to apples. I test drove this car. It was very nice. It wasn’t any nicer than the Cadillac, yet $20,000 more. The C300 with only 255 Hp and 273 lb.ft. is $5000 on top of that. Again, very nice car, but still wouldn’t have chosen it if the price were equal.
20 AUDI S3, with only 288/288 all other comparison being equal, $68200 plus financing. I drove this car, again it was nice, my opinion it wasn’t as comfortable for me or my wife as the Cadillac, yet $13,000 + more. Same goes for the VW Arteon, less power, less comfort, less styling, more money. I drove this car. It was just nice. The Alpha was stunningly beautiful, way more expensive than all of these, couldn’t test drive it due to COVID, could only sit in it at the dealership showroom. Was not comfortable, but looked amazing. Test drove BMW, same story, nice car overall, don’t like the styling as much, more money and higher finance rates. So in closing I drove 2 loaded Mercedes Benz, Comparable AUDI, loaded VW, 2 comparable BMW, and sat in the Alpha Romeo. (there were no Lincolns to test drive in my area) Out of these cars, all were comparable, all had the same technology, same options, yet with less power and fewer gears, even if the price was exactly the same. It’s still the Cadillac. Sorry people these are the facts.

Where I live there were no CT4’s on the lots at the time, and really still aren’t. Lots of 5’s around. On a trip out of town I test drove the V and loved it. I never actually drove the CT4 with the 2.0L so I can’t comment on that. And although there were CT5’s in my area, all with the 2.0L Sports. I couldn’t look past the hump on the rear door windows. So I never drove them either. Petty I know, but it kills the lines for me. The V I test drove wasn’t fully optioned and in the bright red. I didn’t like either. So I ordered from my local dealer exactly what I wanted. Not bashing here but if you’re going to buy the base model Luxury 2.0L RWD, wouldn’t you just opt for an impala? I never looked into the Chrysler 300 only because I’ve owned in the past. (12′ 300S 5.7L AWD) Loved it, but my wife kept smashing in the front clip, and I’ve never owned a Cadillac until now.

I agree with your point in principle. I don’t buy a vehicle unless it’s loaded. I set a dollar amount I want to spend then compare everything that appeals to me in that segment. I trade in every 2 to 4 years and have never had an odometer hit 6 figures. (that’s in km’s) I’m not brand loyal, I’ve owned everything. But. That’s me. My parents or In-laws likely wouldn’t care if the car had the 2.0, the 2.7, or the 6.2. If anything the bigger motors would likely deter them. So in that reasoning I see the need for the smaller 2.0. The only complaint that I can come up with is that the dealers only seem to have the 2.0 on the lot. So you cant test drive and compare. I feel this is why the European cars sell better. Buyers test drive the base Cadillac because that’s all that’s available, and then drive an upscale Mercedes. They don’t compare, thus Cadillac loses the sale on an otherwise equally great vehicle. I had to be 3 hours away and test drive a CT4. The only CT4 that was on his lot was the V. Had it been the 2.0, maybe I’m on a different site? All manufacturers build great cars, they all have recalls, and all make lemons. If the car your start up doesn’t get you started, you need to be in something else. Just my 2 cents.
Well said. To each his own. People need to stop blaming the auto manufacturer for their own driving mistakes and human errors. My parents daily drove a Benz GLA for 5 years and the transmission blew out and needed a new one after 190,000 km. You can say the same thing about Mercedes, that Mercedes has bad quality cars.

But the people here who have really made me a success are you to, yeah you know who you are , come up here, without you Jason, nobody here an this Cadillac post would have known you can not buy a Cadillac like you have for $35,000.00 , and really I cant thank you enough, because you have proven that you could not test drive a 2.7T – 10 speed in a premium Luxury , because the dealers do not stock them. Also Jason, and I quote, The only complaint that I can come up with is that the dealers only seem to have the 2.0 on the lot. So you cant test drive and compare. I feel this is why the European cars sell better. Buyers test drive the base Cadillac because that’s all that’s available, and then drive an upscale Mercedes. They don’t compare, thus Cadillac loses the sale on an otherwise equally great vehicle. I had to be 3 hours away and test drive a CT4. The only CT4 that was on his lot was the V. Had it been the 2.0, maybe I’m on a different site? Is just proof that even you, now a Cadillac driver also might not have been here because the Cadillac dealer does not stock any that a true Cadillac driver would buy, Also proving that your parents, who I assume are older than you, are the people who don’t care weather A Cadillac has a 2.0T and that very demographic is who no longer buys Cadillacs !
But Alex Luft, If its true, and the ability to prove some of the things that are typed with a picture, Now you sir would be like a super hero ! Just think, one picture of these old bald fat guys in there Chevy Sparks and me with my beautifull wife standing to our ceramic coated ATS POS next to the leaky rear end, broken CUE, and the pile of paperwork with dealership info and the service information, even better yet how about videos, you know like f4ce8ook, you could see everyones steering wheels shaking, CUE changing radio stations while driving for no reason, all of those dealers full of GM vehicles the GM tells you do not exist, jaws would be on the floor !

For your sake I hope this problem is fixed. or if your rear end leaks at 50,000.0001 miles GM will do nothing for you ! If your Infotainment screen fails at 50,000.000000001 miles GM will do nothing for you, and on and on and on , and that’s after 6 recalls, HORROR, I am the HORROR story, should have been the buyback story, the lemon law story, nope I was the HORROR story, this ATS of ours is a POS !!!! I sincerely do not post ill will or insult anyone here first blow, and have taken it for over 3 years.
You need to know some of my direct real personal experiences and thoughts !
First and foremost I am a Chevy guy, 62 Chevy Corvair, was my first car and a 62 Chevy truck was my first truck.
I am 52, and bought a 1968 Camaro at 15 years old with money I made milking cows for neighbors in SD.
I have been a Chevy guy first and foremost over the years, always Chevy trucks, 4th generation GM Chevy truck guy !
My first GMC Denali HD Duramax was a 2017 as the Chevys no longer did it for me, the look, its still GM and if Chevy next makes one I like I might go back, still GM !
My Grandpa drove Cadillac, my mom has a Cadillac I bought for her, and I have owned 5, every one a great vehicle ( BUT ) My moms 99 DeVille NorthStar, is the head bolt ” known failure ” and did not wear out but failed before 100,000 miles.
Every other Cadillac I have owned have ran for over 140,000+ miles, transfer case chain in my 2005 SRX NorthStar at 77,000 miles so that did not make 100,000 miles, yet after that chain I ran it 140,000+ miles Great.
I know this is a novel, and I am sorry !
Our 2014 Cadillac is just a lemon vehicle, I do not think all Cadillac ATS vehicles are lemon vehicles, this one we have IS ! the whole vehicle is falling apart at 50,000.00001 miles one 16th of a mile out of warranty, it is true junk, and that bothers these guys here, that I blame GM or a GM dealership for this. do not believe me, do some research on a 2013 – 2016 ish ATS you will see !lemon vehicle.
Now the GM lineup, and where I believe it should be, and everyone has their own opinion and this is mine.
Chevy:
The every mans vehicle, or womans vehicle. From the cheapest vehicle GM< can make to the highest priced vehicle GM can sell under the Chevy badge.
Buick:
I have went back and forth on Buick, should it go away, should it stay ? Well I think stay, I think Buick should take on the form of the old persons Cadillac. FWD based, Sedan and SUVs , floaty, comfy, and that new Enclave is great.
GMC:
Only truck and SUV, only RWD based, only off road features. Whether or not people use then off road or not, just ONLY that look, like the AT4 of today, even if a Denali, still a Denali like the AT4. The Acadia, RWD based, ONLY AWD, in GMC ONLY AWD, and RWD based, if you want a RWD not AWD, buy a Chevy. The terrain, RWD/AWD ONLY AT4 form, Denali OK in AT4 form. A chevy High Country anything can be FWD/AWD or FWD, just not a GMC, its an off road designed truck based vehicle. That's my opinion and I can have one and you can have one, and that is OK .
I DO respect yours, and frankly love to hear them, opinions on the brand, that might take it better.
Cadillac:
I feel that a GM Cadillac vehicle should be the standard of the world.
A sedan in the Bentley or better design, like Cadillac says they are doing with the Celestiq – OK
A SUV that is the same as above, Escalade – OK
And than fill the rest out.
All RWD based either RWD or AWD as wanted.
XT4 size SUV
XT5 sizes SUV
XT6 sized SUV
CT4 sized Sedan
CT5 sized Sedan
And maybe a Sedan larger or smaller or both if the desire was there in the future after cementing the brand as not American junk luxury as it is seen today, by the top of the economic chain.
OK here is where I get dicey.
I believe that a Cadillac, should NOT have the lowest HP GM has in a X size vehicle, any of them. If GM offers a 1.3T 3 cylinder in any other badge of size X, a Cadillac should have the next up as the lowest. I am NOT saying that Cadillac should have the highest HP in X size vehicle, just not the lowest equal to the other badges. Example: the 2.0T if its in a Chevy blazer, the Cadillac XT5 should have the 2.7T ETC. If the Suburban has the 5.3, the Escalade should only drop to the 6.2 ETC. all the way down. Malibu gets the 2.0T, CT4 gets the 2.7T lowest.
They are Cadillacs !
Interiors in the Cadillac, same as the Engines. a Chevy or any other brand gets a 8" info screen the Cadillac should get no lower than a 10" ETC, and the whole vehicle that way including the warranty, Chevy a 36,000 mile, Buick a 50,000 mile, Cadillac a 100,000 mile, pay for the best, get the best, if you pay for a Chevy, you get a Chevy. and over the making of Cadillac that is what the brand was, the best and most expensive GM vehicle. in the past, if you bought a Cadillac with 100,000 miles on it, no prob, look at the old ones on the road today.
I am not saying a Chevy can not be as good as a Cadillac, that is ok. If GM wants the Suburban to be just as nice as the Escalade OK that's fine, just do not make a Cadillac of lower quality than a Chevy Suburban !
Same with the whole Cadillac line.
Its ok to me if the Malibu is the exact vehicle as the Cadillac, but do not peddle a Cadillac lesser than you can buy a Malibu.
And if your opinion is different OK, its an opinion. I respect it. For me its not what a Cadillac costs, its that you can buy a better Chevrolet than Cadillac !
And if that is what GM wants, to get rid of Cadillac, fine, sell it to a company that wants Cadillac to be the standard of the world. If I can no longer afford a new one, I want one used, and the resale value is up, because I want that Cadillac.
That was a very long comment but I read it, and you have some good points.
Yes Cadillac should be the best GM vehicle you can buy, similarly to a Lexus for Toyota. I don’t own a Cadillac yet, but the day I buy a luxury car, the first thing I’m looking at is a Cadillac. However the 2.0T engine in the Malibu is only offered in the Premier (most expensive) trim, whereas in the CT4 it’s the base engine, which I don’t see that being a problem. But yea I agree with everything else, the best Chevy and GMC products should be on the entry level Cadillacs, and the top trim Cadillacs should have the absolute best features that GM has to offer. But I love the idea of a CT4 2.0T, affordable luxury, same price as the top trim Malibu. We are living in a time where most children are not going to make more money than their parents, whereas in the past most people’s children ended up making more money than their parents.

I realize the Malibu is the top Malibu with the 2.0T, and I do not want to dismiss Chevy, yet that is where I am at. Now you can buy a lower priced Chevrolet better, equal to, and some mite say better than the Cadillac, the top of GM.
OK so even if I give you that one, a GM person wants a FWD 2.0T in a GM product of that size.
On the Chevy lot, what Malibu can you test drive and what Malibu do you have to order ?
You see at the Chevy dealership, the Malibu in stock is the stock Malibu, you want the better one you order it, that is what GM does.
And on the Cadillac lot, the same thing, so comparing Chevy to Cadillac, stock on the lot, sure, you are comparing the low Malibu 1.5 to the low Cadillac 2.0.
But the Cadillac should be in the luxury class, compared to Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus.
If you go to the others, they will have the better to test drive, and most will talk to you and start you off at the HP they feel fits you first !
At the Cadillac dealership, they do not ever even stock the high option, you just cant even test drive it. Now I am talking where I live, not every place in the world, yet most, look on the Cadillac site, find the 2.7T yet better yet the 3.0TT in the CT5. You can test drive the 2.0T and buy one off the lot as soon as the first vehicle hits the lot.
OK so what do you think about this, and this is what would work in my opinion.
I think GM should stock the best Cadillac, and its the dealers job to explain there is a cheaper option in the engine if you don’t think you need the best. Even if they stock one and one, but never 6 low end 2.0T’s, and that’s where you are now.
See you can’t test the better Malibu, and you can’t test the better Cadillac, but the Cadillac should not be compared to the Cadillac, the luxury vehicles should be.
Do you follow Cadillac ?
When GM released the most beautiful Cadillac sedan, the CT6, all you could test drive is a CT6 with the 2.0T, everyone wanted the CT6 with the 3.6NA or better yet the Blackwing, yet by the time the GM killed the 2.0T in the CT6 it was to late GM could not sell any, I bet it is easier today to find a CT6 with a 2.0T still than a CT5 with the 3.0TT on a Cadillac lot.
At Cadillac you need both so the customer can decide.
Just like Jason said here A Cadillac buyer, like myself, it was hard for him to find a CT4 with the 2.7T, yet the 2.0T, one or two on every lot.
And if you want a Chevy with the 2.0T with in a RWD you still have the Camaro and its a beautiful car !
Yea at my local GM/Cadillac dealer there is only the 2.0T CT4 available for test drive. But yea for sure Cadillac should stock more CT4-Vs and Blackwings to really show people what Cadillac is about.
But I still like the 2.0T CT4, it’s basically a slightly slower Camaro 2.0T with 4 doors. Both have the Alpha2 chassis and rear wheel drive. Although the LSY engine is slightly weaker than the old LTG. But still if I see someone driving a 2.0T CT4 I respect the car, because I know it’s one of the best cars you can buy for $36k CAD. I respect cheaper cars with higher performance. For example a $70k Corvette impresses me more than a $300k Ferrari or a $120k BMW, but that’s just me.
I know that’s all GM stocks, we get off of our couch and drive.
My 5 closest GM/Cadillac have all the 2.0T Cadillacs you want and not ONE in ANY form CT4, CT% with the next step !

If say you got a raise, and all the sudden had just a bit more money than you have now, things are looking great in your live, and you can get a new vehicle.
I RESPECT that you STILL want to buy a Cadillac or even another GM vehicle maybe a Corvette, will you still chose the CT4 with the 2.0T, or just like that, overnight do you want the 2.7T-10 speed ?
OR lets say your last three GM vehicles had that GM 8 speed junk transmission, and all you did for 3 years was run back and forth to the dealership to try to get it fixed, only to have to get rid of it and get another vehicle.
Would you chose the 2.0T with that same 8 speed ?

And IF GM wasn’t back wards, or maybe upside down, in this it would work.
So if you are new to the Cadillac world, this is new to you.
In other words, if GM had no troubles with the last 2.0T when first put in our ATS, and Cadillac did not have any troubles with the GM 8 speed junk transmission, what you are saying would be OK and even GREAT ( I still think that the Cadillac dealer should have both on the lot at all times to test drive and try to sell the best only to let the customer decide the lesser cost option ), it would work, and be great.
But that is not where Cadillac is.
Cadillac has become a GM China brand, I am no longer positive here, but not long ago GM sold 7 more Cadillacs in China to the One they sold here in the USA.
That’s why you have a 350T in metric on the back and not a FT.lbs. And I am a metric guy, the USA is archaic on the world stage !
But the horrible Cadillac history in the last 20 years has caused this problem.
Yet still I think the biggest trouble right now for Cadillac in the USA is that you can not buy an upper Cadillac on the lot.
I would say a huge amount of customers look, drool, want, as they cruise the dealerships, the impulse buy or even the step up buy, and not even happen at Cadillac there simply are no options on the lot except the cheapest option.
hmm…. I see your point. You’ve had some bad experiences with Cadillac’s 8 speed, and I dont fault you for feeling that way.
However, my neighbor had a CTS for years, never seen him have any issues. And he just upgraded to a new CT5. He’s an older guy who drives very conservatively, and I dont see him have any issues. I don’t know your situation, but sometimes buying a used car or leased car you might have a previous owner who didnt break the car in properly, or abused/neglected the car. When I bought my new Camaro, there were a whole bunch of rules in the owner’s manual about how to break the car in for the first 10,000 km. Most people who lease or plan to buy and sell dont care about those things because they know they arent keeping the car.
My parents own a Benz GLA, bought it brand new, and had all the work and maintenance done at the dealership. After 5 years and 190,000km (aka 110k miles) the transmission was completely screwed and needed a new one. My elderly parents don’t drive like teenagers, there’s no reason for the transmission to fail that early at 110k miles. You can say the same thing about Mercedez Benz, that they make junk cars.
And also i see your point about if say you got a raise, wouldnt you rather have the 2.7T CT4-V instead of the 2.0T? Depends on what your lifestyle is like. Some people are perfectly happy with the 2.0T 6.0-6.3s 0-60 and it has the beautiful Alpha2 chassis (same as a Camaro), and rear wheel drive (the only wheel drive for me). The 2.7T CT4-V 0-60 is 5.0s which is REALLY FAST (faster than a Civic Type R), might be overkill for some people for daily city driving.
I look at it this way, the same way with my car. My Camaro 2.0T makes sense for me because its a daily driver, and a 6.2L SS would be ridiculous especially since the winters are pretty bad here in Canada. The 3.6L V6 is a wash in terms of performance, its about the same as the 2.0T. 5.4s 0-60 is more than enough for a city car, I dont need 3.9s from a Corvette LT1 engine. Same with the Cadillac CT4, for some people 6.0s is more than enough acceleration, and you get a 4 door Camaro essentially. Sure you can pay more for the CT4-V or the Blackwing, but thats overkill for some people.
Also if you pick a previous year model brand new from a dealership you can get some INSANE discounts especially when the dealer offers employee discounts. And you will not find any left over CT4-Vs or Blackwings because they are SPECIALTY performance vehicles, so you should expect to pay MSRP on those. Whereas left over models are usually the bottom trim cars like the CT4 luxury with the 2.0T because they are mass produced. Dealerships try to clear out previous year models, for example if you buy a 2020 car in 2021 you can find some CRAZY discounts. So the difference in price is more/greater than just the difference between MSRP.

This very thing is going on right now an the GM HD trucks and the intermediate steering shaft. I comment on the things I own, and the things I wanted to buy ( if GM quit making them ” Good Enough ” Cheap junk.
The intranet works in mysterious ways, some know how it works, others just use it as told. For instance, the grid gives you a random IP as to use less of them. This did not used to be in the early stages. Its another way to cut costs to failure, and here we are. You see GM knows who I am, I get pop up ads on this site for my local dealership. And I can assure you I am NOT an intranet troll or work for any publication !
