The GM Authority Take

For the second consecutive month, Chevrolet Argentina sales decreased considerably in August due to the instability in auto demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, fueled by the country’s economic slump. Despite the decline, last month’s performance represents an improvement over Chevrolet’s performance in July, when sales fell 52 percent to 2,990 units.

Chevrolet Montana

In August, nine of the brand’s eleven models in Argentina suffered notable double-digit drops, including the Chevrolet Onix, which accounts for almost half of the sales of the entire portfolio. Only two low-volume models – the Montana and Trailblazer SUV – posted an uptick in sales volume of 120 and 17 percent, respectively.

And though it may not seem like it at first glance, the launch of the all-new Chevrolet Tracker greatly improved the crossover’s performance in the Argentine market, with sales growing from 108 units in July to 472 deliveries in August.
