The GM Authority Take
Cadillac China sales increased substantially in the third quarter of 2020, enabling the luxury brand to break the negative trend it had accumulated for three consecutive quarters in the Asian country, which is its main volume market since 2017. As such, the 65,200 units that Cadillac sold between July and September are equivalent to the highest figure it has registered in the Chinese market during the last 12 months, thanks to a steady recovery in demand for vehicles in the world’s largest auto market.
GM reports that Cadillac’s strong utility portfolio was primarily responsible for the improvement experienced during Q3 2020, with the Cadillac XT5‘s particularly striking performance leading to the excellent Q3 result. It’s unclear whether the midsize crossover managed to regain its former position as Cadillac’s most popular vehicle in China, before the arrival of the XT4 and CT5.
Meanwhile, the brand’s range of sedans together sold more than 20,000 units, led by the new Cadillac CT5 which, according to unconfirmed data commented on by local media, achieved its best performance to date in China. In addition, the all-new CT4 also managed to post healthy initial registrations in the Asian country.

Another worthless story, who cares about what’s going on in China more than general motors? Eventually you’ll build as many cars over there as you possibly could, feeding an economy that doesn’t deserve it, after the virus they gave us.
It’s important because if it doesn’t sell in China GM won’t invest it in! It’s not General Motors it’s now Chi-Com Motors. It’s probably the only reason why Cadillac has cars in it’s US line up.
