The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT4 sales maintained third place during the second quarter of 2022 from the previous quarter. This is in spite of idled production in the most recent past at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, where the CT4 is produced alongside the Cadillac CT5 and Chevy Camaro. That resulted in extremely low inventory at the dealer level, preventing shoppers from purchasing the vehicle. Luckily, production finally resumed in October 2021, which is very welcome news for Cadillac’s small luxury sedan, especially the range-topping 2022 CT4-V Blackwing sedan that launched in 2021. However, GM paused production again for a week in April due to an undisclosed parts shortage.

As a reminder, the CT4 family is offered in “regular” CT4 guise, high-performance CT4-V dress, and ultra-high-performance CT4-V Blackwing clothing. The vehicle remains a highly-compelling and, arguably, the most complete offering in the segment.

But wait, there’s more! GM recently debuted the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions, which will be offered in three different iterations, each named after a U.S. race track including the Watkins Glen IMSA Edition (set for production between October and December of 2022), the Sebring IMSA Edition (set for production by January of 2023), and, finally, the Road Atlanta IMSA Edition (set for production between February and March of 2023). Just 99 examples of each special edition model will be built, bringing the grand total to 297 units.

Production of all other 2023 Cadillac CT4 trims began on July 18th, 2022. The 2023 CT4 will get a new bronze accent package, bringing a host of bronze exterior accents to the luxury sedan to give it a more upscale and head-turning appearance.

As Cadillac continues to add value to its already-popular small luxury sedan, addressing CT4 production issues will be key to catapulting sales to the top of its segment.
