The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Korea sales fell again in April, representing the 14th consecutive  drop in monthly sales volume in the Asian country. The leading cause of this decrease is the global semiconductor shortage, which continues to keep GM Korea plants working below capacity despite healthy local demand for the Bow Tie brand’s products. This chain of events has resulted in Chevrolet recording sales of less than 3,000 units in April. The results follow a remarkable recovery in March 2022, when Chevy posted 3,609 deliveries.

All Chevrolet models offered in South Korea were in the red during April with the exception of those that were recently launched and officially went on sale during the fourth month of 2022. The Chevy Trailblazer and Chevy Spark – typically the most popular Chevrolet models in Korea – saw significant drops in sales volumes. However, the Spark finished the month as the best-selling Chevrolet. The imported Chevy Traverse and Chevy Colorado saw the most significant decreases in sales volume as a result of very limited inventory in the Asian country.

For its part, the recently-launched 2022 Chevy Tahoe and all-new Chevy Bolt EUV posted their first sales in South Korea, recording 58 and 59 units, respectively.
