GM Canada Sales Down 6.6 Percent In Second Quarter 2022

GM Canada sales fell 6.6 percent to 62,505 units during the second quarter of 2022. Sales decreased at the Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet brands, while increasing at GMC.

GM Canada Sales Notes – Q2 2022

The drop in GM Canada sales during the second quarter was overwhelmingly due to the ongoing industry-wide supply chain issues, which limited vehicle production and dealer inventories. However, the result represents a significant increase from 47,699 units recorded during the first quarter, while also reporting positive numbers for the GMC brand.

Despite the general downturn, GM’s compact crossovers posted healthy gains in Canada, as both the GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox posted notable double-digit increases. In addition, other models posted significant sales volume recoveries in Canada, including the Chevy Malibu, Express and Colorado, as well as the Cadillac XT4 and GMC Canyon.

  1. Sales are down in Ontario and the rest of Canada because your GM dealers have virtually no to Low inventory except for some light trucks and a few Cadillacs ,otherwise your sales would be much better and Dealerships wouldn’t be pushing Past model trade- in’s to stay alive . Plus adding on-star on all future GMC and Buick models maybe illegal in Canada which will turn off customers with a 3 year $1700 dollar plus charge a turn off. A really sad state of affairs for a company that once had 50% of the market !

  2. Looks like we found a limit to the consumers’ “pent-up demand” we were told was going to drive cars off the lot despite the prices.

  3. Trucks and Nox are the only “hit” vehicles sold by GM Canada. Rather sad state of affairs for a company that once dominated the market.
A lot of lessons could be learned from Nox. It’s a high quality family vehicle on par with Honda with a VW-like design that’s simple yet dignified. Same could be said for Tahoe.
