The GM Authority Take
After finishing 2022 in the green, Chevrolet Argentina sales started the new calendar year with a significant double-digit increase in January. The Bow Tie brand far exceeded the healthy growth rate of 15.2 percent posted by the overall Argentine automotive market in the first month of the year thanks to improvements in volume of its three best-selling models. The results enabled Chevy to post its ninth consecutive monthly sales increase in the country.
The growth in Chevrolet sales was led by the locally-produced Chevy Tracker, which became the brand’s best-selling model for the first time, while also earning the title of being the most popular crossover in Argentina. Coming on the heels of six months of local manufacturing at the GM Alvear plant, the substantial three-digit growth in Tracker sales in January are the result of a higher inventory availability within the local market as exports have stabilized.
It’s also worth highlighting the very healthy performance of the Chevy Onix, which managed to exceed the 1,000 monthly sales mark in a while. The subcompact range began the year strong, recovering from a long period of being in the red due to Argentine import restrictions.
For its part, the Chevy Cruze fell from first to second place within the brand’s rankings. Regardless of the drop, the compact car range achieved a significant increase in volume compared to the 623 deliveries recorded in December.
