The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales ended the 2022 calendar year in the green, achieving a healthy uptick in December, enabling the Bowtie brand to continue on an upward trajectory in the Argentine market. In fact, the solid results posted in December represent Chevy’s eighth consecutive monthly increase in the South American country.

The uptick in Chevrolet Argentina sales during December 2022 was driven by the Chevy Tracker, which saw the most significant year-over-year sales improvement. The locally-built subcompact crossover saw a 75 percent, or 140 unit, increase on a year-over-year basis. Meanwhile, the Chevy Equinox was once again the model to post the highest growth rate on a percentage basis, while carrying a relatively low volume of just 23 units – exactly the same as it did in November.

By contrast, the best-selling Chevy Cruze suffered a slight decline in December, losing the momentum it has generated over the last few months. The compact car saw a notable drop in monthly sales volume, likely as a result of a reduction in available inventory in the Argentine market. However, the Cruze did complete the 2022 calendar year with a significant double-digit increase, nearly doubling the 2021 result.
