2022 Silverado ZR2 In Summit White: Live Photo Gallery

The fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 introduces a broad range of changes and updates, among them the debut of the all-new 2022 Silverado ZR2 off-roading rig. We’ve already shown you real-world photos of the Silverado ZR2 coated in Black paint as well as in the Red Hot hue. Now we’ve captured a Silverado ZR2 out and about in Summit White.

This is the first time we’ve seen the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 in Summit White (color code GAZ) paint. Summit White is only available in conjunction with the Jet Black interior colorway, which, as it just so happens, is also the case for the new Silverado ZR2.

This particular example presents in a Crew Cab, Short Bed body configuration, which is the only body configuration offered for the 2022 Silverado ZR2. The front end features the ZR2-specific fascia, with a black grille, Flow Tie badge with a red inlay, a ZR2 badge, and black lower bumper treatment. A set of red tow hooks are located just above a silver skid plate, while the hood incorporates the signature black insert. The headlights include LED lighting elements for the daytime running lamps.

Moving over to the corners, this 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 rolls on a set of 18-inch aluminum machined face wheels with Black Painted spokes and Oxide Gold painted outer ring accents (RPO code RCW). As GM Authority covered previously, the new Silverado ZR2 is also available with optional 18-inch Gloss Black wheels (RPO code RQL). Both wheels are wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires.

Further details in the sides include black mirror caps and black door handles, which provide a nice offset for the highly visible Summit White body panels. This particular model also appears to be equipped with chromed rectangular 6-foot assist steps (RPO code VXH), which, interestingly, are currently not available for the Silverado ZR2. A set of MultiMatic DSSV dampers keep the ZR2 sitting shiny side up.

This tester also strangely sports a set of dual chrome exhaust tips integrated into the bottom edge of the rear bumper. It’s not the first time we’ve seen a 2022 Silverado ZR2 testing configured this way, but GM Authority has confirmed with Chevy officials that these tips will not make it to production.

Instead, the rear end of the production 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 features a set of exhaust pipes tucked behind the rear bumper, thus enhancing its off-road worthiness with regard to approach and departure angles. The bumper itself is finished in black. In fact, we spotted a Silverado prototype with the standard chrome integrated exhaust tips undergoing off-road testing last year with a bent exhaust finisher, the result of an aggressive hill climb attempt that squished the exhaust flat against the ground.

As for the greasy bits, the Chevy Silverado ZR2 is offered exclusively with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Elsewhere in the lineup, the refreshed 2022 Silverado can be had with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B (now with 430 pound-feet of torque), the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

Under the skin is the GM T1 platform. Production of the 2022 Silverado range takes place at the GM Silao Plant in Mexico, the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Indiana, and the GM Oshawa Plant in Canada.

    2. I don’t quite understand, if you dislike GM so much why are you on a GM website? I don’t understand why some people get so emotionally invested and angry. Nobody is forcing you to purchase these trucks.

  2. All true, Mickey.

Why not the chrome exhaust tips ?

Beancounters continue to work 24/7 at GM.

Former CEO Roger Smith was an accountant – his tenure ran thru the 80s during the front wheel drive revolution and thick, hideous body cladding .

Such a shame from a company that was once the flagship among the Big Three.

  3. I don’t think I like the truck in this white color. ALL of the mud from off roading will show up on the paint job and it just seems wrong.

  4. I sure hope someone at GM eventually figures out there a lot of us out here that would like to buy the sporty models but hate black interiors.

  5. Unless you are a true part of the off road crowd and knows all the subtle nuances the ZR2 has, I’m sure the general public will view it as a Custom, or WT model that just left the jobsite. There isn,t really any WOW factor with this truck appearance wise.

  9. These pics have steered me away from a ZR2 or Trail Boss — the road salt on the black grill, bumpers and trim looks awful. We need a Silverado Road Salt Edition with very light grey body paint and bumpers, and oil emitters in the undercarriage to keep the rust at bay, lol.

  10. This isn’t just a Chevy problem….. but come on guys!!! Ford/ram/ Chevy….. WTH is with all the plain Jane white vehicles??? They look cheap. Can’t you make a bigger variety of color on a lot? Or does the penny you save from white pigment really justify the hideousness?

  11. Jake,
Ford and Ram offer cheap work trucks, but they step in up on the better models, two tone, chrome, white letter tires, 5 different interiors, GM offer BLACK and BLACK WITH DARK WALNUT. cheap thin seats, stupid door mounted black unfinished mirrors , bow tie jambed up by the hood, no body side moldings, cheap little tiny knobs on dash, unfinished wheel lip moldings, no chrome bumpers, so your painted bumpers chip all to hell, they bring out new motors, then cancel, different transmissions, that have numerous problems, tail gate steps, that hit hitch receiver , ect. GM is all about cost cutting, and to top it off the new silverado has a car dash. insane

    1. No, my whole point is you drive by a Chevy dealer, half the trucks are white. Drive by a Ford dealer-white. Ram- white. Why all the white trucks?????? They’re hideous!!!! GM makes an awesome slate grey. Why not more trucks in that color? Ford has a decent 2 tone with blue and grey. Why not have that as the mass production color? Ram is the worst of the big 3 when it comes to choice of hues, but why not use black? Why in the world use this white!?!?! That said, the Silverado RST and high country look decent in white.

  13. White is the cheapest colour look at all the company commercials vehicles

  14. For an Off-road model these tires look small, The Zr2 also really needs an offset on the wheels the stance looks too narrow.

  15. You guys couldn’t wash it prior to showing off the new color? lmao this looks like more clickbait posts to keep people from getting to annoyed that you pushed back production again. I’m tempted to cancel my order and get another ford at this rate.

  17. At least it isn’t black on black on black with black wheels… Drive through any parking lot. Doesn’t matter who made the dang thing.. they all look the same with the same exact color schemes….

  18. For those that are bashing the Summit White color, let me offer this comment: White does not show scratches in the clear coat. This is why most ranch vehicles are white. Take that pretty blue truck or my favorite color (black) through the back country and you will see what I mean. Every time you hear a branch rubbing against the body of your truck you will cringe. White is the perfect color for fleet vehicles, ranch trucks, and off roaders.

GM- Great truck. Love the interior! Just wish you put 35′ on it. Thank you for the front and rear lockers and keeping the 6.2 V8. I can’t wait for mine (in summit white) to be delivered! Cheers!

  19. White is the default colour for all vehicles, if you don’t pick one, also white is the cheapest paint, no colours are added, if you were buying a fleet of trucks or trailers or cars white paint is one less expense

  20. That is one ugly truck. Can’t believe I drove GM’s for nineteen years. Must of feel and hit my head. Going cheap on the exhaust. Years and years that’s what GM like to do.

  21. I ordered a ZR2 from my dealer in summit white, and was told the interior was the two-tone “gray stone and black” color way. In fact, from the research I’ve done, that’s the only option available for this truck. Obviously, I don’t know as much as you, but where are you hearing the summit white ZR2 only comes in a black interior?
