General Motors unveiled the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 last September, pulling the sheets on a fully updated pickup with a long list of updates and changes. Among these updates was the introduction of the 2022 Silverado ZR2, the new high-performance off-roader of the lineup. One of the ZR2’s many features is an interesting new Chevy Flow Tie badge with a red inlay.
For those readers who may be unaware, the Chevy Flow Tie badge is a unique aerodynamics feature that enhances cooling properties. Shaped like a traditional Chevy Bow Tie badge, the Flow Tie includes a hollow center that allows additional airflow into the engine bay. The feature was originally developed in conjunction with the 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28, but has since found its way into a number of Chevy applications, including the Chevy Silverado.
That said, the Chevy Flow Tie has traditionally incorporated a black inlay. By contrast, the Flow Tie badge on the 2022 Silverado ZR2 incorporates a unique red inlay.
Applied to the nose of the 2022 Silverado ZR2, the Chevy Flow Tie badge with the red inlay adds a subtle but effective enhancement to the overall look of the vehicle, complementing details like the red tow hooks and “2” in the ZR2 badge, thus making the off-road pickup stand out even more with regard to the broader 2022 Chevy Silverado lineup.
As a reminder, the 2022 Silverado ZR2 is equipped with advanced Multimatic DSSV dampers and retuned springs for superior off-road control, plus front and rear e-lockers for enhanced traction, and high-approach steel front bumper with removable end caps for enhanced clearance. Under the hood, the 2022 Silverado ZR2 is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The V8 connects to a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD system.
Pricing for the 2022 Silverado ZR2 starts at $66,795, including the $1,695 destination freight charge.
