Christmas is just around the corner, and Chevrolet is celebrating by bringing the power to light up the night, courtesy of the all-electric Chevy Silverado EV. In a series of social media posts, a Chevy Silverado EV shows off its PowerBase charging capabilities by illuminating huge Christmas trees in San Diego, California, as well as Toronto, Canada. The Silverado’s charging capabilities can also be used for more than just powering a few strings of lights, and can even be used to power home appliances or even another EV, if needed.
To demonstrate, Chevy brought a Silverado EV RST to Sankofa Square in Toronto as part of the Winter Glow holiday carnival, powering the 30-foot tall Rotary Club Tree of Remembrance. The event was attended by GM Canada VP of sales, service, and marketing Shane Peever.
“As GM’s electric vehicle sales continue to accelerate, lighting the 30-foot Rotary Club Tree with the battery power of our Chevrolet Silverado EV shines a light on GM’s lineup of electric vehicles,” Peever said. “It’s an inspiring way to celebrate a historic 2024 and showcase the bright future of electric mobility.”
Video captured at the event shows the massive tree shining in the glow of a string of bulbs and lights, all while the Chevy Silverado EV sits nearby with Santa Claus behind the wheel. The Winter Glow event will be ongoing until December 22nd.

Chevy was also on the scene at Liberty Station in Southern California, providing the juice to illuminate a massive 88-foot tree in San Diego. The 88-footer had lights wrapping its trunk from top to bottom, as well as string lights around the branches.

Providing the electricity for both trees is the Chevy Silverado EV RST’s 205 kWh battery pack, with the juice flowing through either a 120V or 240V outlet.
The all-electric pickup also offers bi-directional charging that can be used to power an entire home during a blackout.

Isn’t that precious?
About all they are good for!! Not worth a bucket of cold spit for anything else!
I’ve seen a lot of dumb uses of a pickup truck – this has to be the dumbest!
Toronto recently changed the name of that square from Yonge/ Dundas square to Sankofa square because of the name Dundas. The mayor of Toronto will not acknowledge “Christmas” tree, instead she uses holiday tree. Please GM, stop being lured into her scheme to promote woke culture. This is truly embarrassing to Canadians.
