The GM Authority Take

The solid increase in GM Mexico sales during March continues the company’s positive performance and enables it to end the first quarter of the year in the green thanks to very healthy results in February and March. As such, the double-digit growth recorded in March represents the automaker’s second consecutive monthly increase in the Mexican market, giving GM an even stronger position for the series of upcoming major vehicle launches that will start in the second quarter of the year.

Chevy Cheyenne ZR2

In March, a number of key GM vehicles achieved year-over-year sales growth in Mexico, including seven crossovers, plus the the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups, which posted remarkable triple-digit growth rates.

Despite suffering a year-over-year decline, the Chevy Aveo once again experienced high levels of sales volume last month, cementing it as the company’s best-selling model in Mexico and creating a solid foundation for the all-new 2024 Aveo hatchback that launched in April.

Also worth noting is the sustained levels of high volume experienced by the Chevy S10 Max, which once again outsold the popular Toyota Hilux and ended the first quarter as Mexico’s second-best-selling midsize pickup, behind only the locally-built best-seller, the Nissan NP300 Frontier. In contrast, the automaker’s entire lineup of full-size SUVs posted double-digit declines in volume.
