The GM Authority Take

The notable increase in Chevrolet Colombia sales in July extends the Bow Tie brand’s upward trend in the South American country, representing the fourth consecutive monthly increase in sales volume. The results also enabled Chevy to narrow the gap with Renault, which recently became the best-selling automobile brand in the Colombian market. In fact, Chevrolet was one of the few major auto brands that managed to post an uptick in sales volume in Colombia, far exceeding the 0.6 percent growth rate of the local market.

Once again, Chevy’s positive performance in Colombia during July was driven by a healthy increase in sales of the Chevy Onix. The subcompact car, whose first two generations are sold alongside one another, registered a significant increase that consolidates it as the best-selling vehicle for Chevrolet and the entire Colombian market. In addition, the large four-digit increase registered by the Chevy Tracker is also worth noting, placing as the brand’s second best-selling model both during the month as well as during the first seven months of the calendar year.

Similarly, other models such as the Captiva, Equinox, Tahoe, Traverse and N-Series commercial truck line also posted healthy year-over-year gains that contributed to Chevy’s positive performance.
