The GM Authority Take

The considerable increase in Chevrolet Argentina sales continues the Bow Tie brand’s positive behavior in the South American country, representing the third consecutive month of gains following solid results seen in May and June. In fact, Chevrolet’s performance during July posted the largest gains among all major automobile brands in Argentina, outpacing the market average three-fold.

As has become the norm in recent months, Chevrolet’s strong sales increase in Argentina during July was led by triple-digit gains made by the Chevy Cruze. The compact car range is manufactured locally at the GM Alvear plant, giving it an important advantage within the country, as persistent economic difficulties and severe restrictions on importing vehicles from outside the country have made the Cruze the brand’s best-selling vehicle in the Argentine market.

Additionally, six other Chevy nameplates managed to be in the green last month, including the Chevy Onix – which previously was the far-and-away leader in registrations before the coronavirus pandemic. The Onix recorded its first sales increase in Argentina in 2022 in July, but maintains a substantial amount of unsatisfied demand due to limited inventory. For its part, the Chevy Tracker also began to post improved results in the Argentine market now that it is manufactured locally in the country.
