GM China sales up one percent to 630,000 units during the third quarter 2022. Sales increased at the Buick, Chevrolet and Wuling brands, while decreasing at Cadillac and Baojun.
SAIC-GM Sales –Â Q3Â 2022
Third-quarter 2022 sales at SAIC-GM – GM’s primary joint venture in China responsible for Buick, Chevrolet and Cadillac operations – increased 8.3 percent to 297,600 units:
Buick sales increased 11.4 percent to 185,100 units
- Sales of the Buick Envision Plus midsize crossover grew more than three-fold to nearly 18,000 units
- The Buick Velite 6 BEV sales more than doubled year over year
- The all-new Buick Envista recently joined the brand’s crossover family to strengthen its presence in one of the most popular market segments
Chevrolet sales increased 14.0 percent to 56,000 units
- Sales of the brand’s best-selling nameplate in China – the Chevy Monza sedan – grew 56 percent to over 31,000 units
- Sales of the Chevy Menlo EV more than doubled year-over-year
- The all-new Chevy Seeker was launched in September to further expand Chevrolet’s crossover portfolio
Cadillac sales decreased 5.0 percent to 56,500 units
- The Cadillac CT5 remained the brand’s best-selling model, with sales growing 24 percent to over 21,000 units
- The Cadillac Lyriq all-electric crossover started customer deliveries in September
SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales – Q3 2022
Third-quarter 2022 sales at SAIC-GM-Wuling – GM’s other Chinese joint venture responsible for Wuling and Baojun brands – decreased 4.7 percent to 332,400 units:
Baojun sales decreased 72.98 percent to 10,700 units
- GM’s youngest brand in China continues to lose volume, accumulating several consecutive quarters with drastic declines in the midst of repositioning
Wuling sales increased 3.98 percent to 321,700 units
- The Wuling Mini EV remained China’s best-selling electric vehicle with sales of over 108,000 units, while adding the all-new Mini EV Cabrio, China’s first electric convertible, to the family
- Deliveries of two of Wuling’s silver-badged models – the Asta and Jia Chen – topped 33,000 units
- The all-new Wuling Xing Chi crossover was launched as the brand continued to expand its foothold in the passenger vehicle segment
During the first nine months of the 2022 calendar year, GM China sales decreased 19.8 percent to 1,727,600 units.
