Platform

Production

As of 2019, Silverado 1500 models have been assembled at the Silao plant in Mexico and the Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, USA.

Additionally, the Oshawa plant in Canada was building K2 model pickups, and is currently only building Chevrolet Silverado HD models, which began in November. In the spring of 2022, Oshawa will begin producing Silverado 1500s, timed with the launch of the refreshed model announced earlier this year. This will make Oshawa the only GM plant to exclusively produce Silverado models, and the only plant making both light and heavy-duty trucks.

The GM Flint plant in Michigan also builds heavy-duty trucks.

Availability

The 2021 Silverado availability is as follows:

  • 2021 Silverado 1500 – late second quarter or early third quarter 2020 launch (carry-over model with some changes)
  • 2021 Silverado HD – late second quarter of early third quarter 2020 launch (all-new model)
  • 2021 Silverado MD – late second quarter of early third quarter 2020 launch (carry-over model with some changes)

Beyond 2021

We expect the following outlook for the Silverado beyond the 2021 model year:

  • The light-duty Silverado 1500, in its fourth generation as of the 2019 model year, is expected remain in production thru the 2025 model year
  • The heavy-duty Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD, in their fourth generation as of the 2020 model year, are expected to remain in production thru the 2026 model year
  • The medium-duty Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD, now in their first generation, are expected remain in production thru the 2027 model year

An all-new, next-generation Chevy Silverado will launch after the aforementioned models reach the end of their respective lifecycles.
