Is The 2025 Corvette Getting 5G Connectivity?

The 2025 Corvette will drop in as the sixth model year for the latest eighth-generation Chevy Corvette C8, bringing with it a model refresh complete with a long list of updates. Among these updates will be several noteworthy changes to the cabin, as GM Authority covered previously. Now, it appears as though the 2025 Corvette may upgrade to 5G connectivity.

For those readers who may have missed it, a prototype variant of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 was recently spotted putting in hot laps around the Nurburgring race track in Germany, giving us an early sneak peek at what the refreshed C8 has to offer. While GM Authority has discussed a variety of ZR1-centric exterior features thus far, including that massive rear wing and the new front hood air extraction vent, the 2025 Corvette ZR1 prototype also appears to have a new roof-mounted communications puck equipped just above the rear window, a feature that will likely be used across the C8 Corvette lineup.

Of course, it’s possible this new roof-mounted puck is simply in place for testing purposes. However, it may also indicate a significant communications upgrade is headed down the pipe in conjunction with the 2025 Corvette refresh, possibly with the inclusion of 5G connectivity.

The current C8 Corvette lineup includes 4G connectivity. Additionally, the current lineup also equips a different rear camera mirror housing that pulls double duty as the vehicle comms fin.

Back in June of 2022, GM Authority was the first to report that the 2025 Corvette C8 would introduce a refreshed interior, while in September of this year, we followed-up our initial report with further details. Highlights of the interior refresh include deletion of the HVAC controls currently mounted along the large center divider between the two seats, which should provide passengers with an expanded sense of roominess. Additionally, the waterfall interior element behind and between the two seats will be revised with a more useful inductive / wireless device charger that’s also more ergonomic than the current design.
