For the 2023 calendar year, the GMC lineup will be introducing either an all-new generation or a mid-cycle refresh of most of its models. So, here’s a breakdown on what to expect from Big Red, and what will be chronologically introduced in the United States and Canada during the 2023 calendar year.
Early 2023
First up is the introduction of the third-generation GMC Canyon. As an all-new generation of the midsize pickup truck, the 2023 Canyon is set to kick off production on January 25th 2023 at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
Next up is the 2023.5 GMC Sierra AT4X and 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition. The order books for the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X AEV Edition opened in late 2022, with the first units expected to arrive in early 2023. Meanwhile, the “regular” Sierra AT4X will be getting select AT4X AEV Edition equipment as standard affair. Additionally, prospective buyers can now configure a Sierra AT4X AEV Edition on GMC’s website.
Following up the GMC Hummer EV Pickup‘s calendar year 2022 debut, the Hummer EV SUV is set to launch soon, and production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant, previously known as the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant. At its introduction the range-topping Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 was announced with a starting MSRP of $105,595.
Spring 2023
Currently, the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is still in production, either as a 2022 or a 2023 model. Once all Edition 1 orders have been built, production then moves to the EV3X trim, which will also be manufactured at the GM Factory Zero plant. Following in the Hummer EV Pickup’s steps, production of the 2024 Hummer EV SUV EV2X and EV3X variants is also scheduled to begin in the spring, while the base Hummer EV SUV EV2 will arrive in Spring 2024.
Scheduled to begin production in February 2023 is the mid-cycle refresh of the GMC Sierra HD lineup. With assembly set to take place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, the refreshed 2024 Sierra HD will feature revised exterior styling, an overhauled cockpit, powertrain enhancements, and more.
Expected to begin production after the 2023 Canyon Elevation, AT4 and Denali trim levels, the Canyon AT4X will launch in the spring of 2023. A Canyon AT4X AEV Edition is also expected to debut sometime during the 2023 calendar year, however, GM has yet to confirm a production date.
Fall 2023
Following the reveal of the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD lineup, GM also announced the arrival of a more hardcore off-roader in the Sierra HD AT4X. Taking inspiration from the light-duty Sierra AT4X, the upcoming 2024 Sierra HD AT4X is expected to arrive later in the 2023 model year, likely in the fall.
Late 2023
Later on in the 2023 calendar year, both the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are set to introduce a mid-cycle refresh. The refreshed 2024 Yukon is currently scheduled for production in November 2023.
Finally, the third-generation GMC Acadia is expected to officially debut late 2023, and begin production shortly after in calendar 2024. The all-new 2024 Acadia is expected to continue to ride on the GM C1 platform, while production will be moved to the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

And of course you can look forward for price increases..Really
What about the 2023 GMC 2500HD trucks….When will that start production???? 2024 is set for 2/2023….I’m so confused.
Unless things changed a quick Google search says the 2023 GMC 2500HD order books opened this past May and production started on 7/18/22. The 2023 model year is looking to be a short one. In my mind it would’ve made more sense to call the refreshed HD’s a 2023.5 but I’m sure they have their reasons for calling them a 2024.
You had an article what to expect in 2023 but never did mention the terrain. Is it going to be produced?
To my Terrain colleague, As a Terrain owner also curios on the continuation of the TERRAIN.
TUFT SHOULD RESPOND
I too was thinking why they didn’t mention the Terrain.
Meanwhile, GM has hundreds of thousands of chip retrofits yet to complete for 2022 models. It’s incomprehensible the lack of response from GM “directors and executives”, especially after so many buyers are over 1 YEAR of ownership and not even a hint of a resolution (i e heated steering wheel) . Calling customer service is an absolute failure. Who is this Neelie person, executive director of customer service, who has failed to provide monthly updates on retrofits and answer why new 2023 models have all the chips before existing 2022 customer orders have been fulfilled. Don’t forget to add more greed and less ethics for GM in 2023.
Gm will eventually rebrand these 2022 models and sell them as 2023 models and shaft the public.
Instead of a new truck off the line they will get a truck that has sat outside in inclement weather for a whole year with rodent nests, bugs and other vermin chewing up wiring and nesting/relieving themselves throughout the engine bay and interior.
jim the 2023 model year gmc vehicle are still coming without heated seats park assist and heated steering wheels still chip delete as well as buick encore gx and envisions
I would just like to have the missing Chips installed in my 22 AT4 that I took delivery of in June. Let’s catch up!
GM still hasn’t delivered my 2022 Sierra. Ordered 3/9 and built 6/20. I also have a 2023 Sierra order submitted 11/3 that still has not been accepted by GM. Crazy to think they are talking about 2024 production when they can’t even complete 2022.
Love my two GMC’s
Been thinking if ordering a 3500HD. Could be interesting to see if an order for a 23 is even accepted at this point. Like the idea of the 10 speed for 24, but if overall cost is going to jump 5-10%, I can live without it.
If GM is going to produce the 2023 without chips, what good will they be? May as well not buy GM.
Why isn’t GM taking care of its customers?
My son bought a 2023 1500 LT crew cab 4×4 with 2.7 turbo 4 cylinder and 8 speed in Dec 2022 with heated seats and heated steering wheel. It has all the parts and they all work. But my 22 GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4 is over a year old and hasn’t had a single retrofit of the three missing chips for heated and vented seats and heated steering wheel. No one at any connection point in GM has a clue when the parts will arrive. GM hasn’t even issued a recall on the heated steering wheel, whereas the heated iand vented seats recall was announced 4 months ago on September 16th 2022. When I drove through the local GMC dealer lot at the end of December they had 20 of the 2023 Denali 2500 HD diesels with all of the chips. And my son bought a low level 1500 in a 2023 model with all the chips. Based on what I see the 2023 models are coming with all of the chips while those of us who have already purchased a 2022 are still waiting for parts. That isn’t right GM! No communication with customers or dealerships, and a customer service department that is reading the same script they were given more than a year ago. Who are these higher level employees who have the ability and responsibility to address this epic failure?
Awesome, GMC! Chevy/GMC 4 life!
When will be be able to order a 2024 heavy duty GMC DURMAX Denali pickup? What is a full list of available color? I have been wait for several months .
What’s up with production on the Tahoe ..

My 2023 GMC SLT crew cab has no 12 volt socket to plug in any accessories this is poor planning also no turn arrows in my rear view outside mirrors what has happened to GM I’m very disappointed I’ve sold many GM products in my 35 years as a Salesman for GM products I ordered my truck it took forever to come in but I waited but I’m very disappointed I’m 75 years old and never have I been as disappointed after spending $70,000 dollars
