The 2024 GMC Sierra HD represents the fifth model year of the fourth-generation full-size heavy-duty pickup, for which it received a mid-cycle refresh consisting of a new front end, a new interior, updates to the powertrain, and the introduction of the Sierra HD AT4X off-road model.

Powertrain
The 2024 GMC Sierra HD introduces a more potent turbo-diesel Duramax engine, while the 6.6L V8 gasoline engine gains GM’s 10-speed transmission, replacing the six-speed used in prior model years.

Production
Production of the 2024 GMC Sierra HD began on March 1st, 2023 and ended on July 26th, 2024. The trucks are produced at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
Platform
The 2024 Sierra HD continues to ride on the heavy duty version of the GM T1 platform.
Seating
The 2024 Sierra HD is offered in three seating configurations, seating either 3, 5 or 6 passengers:
- 3-passenger configuration: this setup features a front split bench seat (providing seating for three)
- 5-passenger configuration: this setup features front bucket seats (providing seating for two), along with a 60/40 folding bench in the rear (seating three) resulting in a 2-3 configuration.
- 6-passenger configuration: this setup features a front split bench seat (providing seating for three), along with a 60/40 folding bench in the rear (seating three) resulting in a 3-3 configuration.
Beyond 2024
We expect the fourth-generation Sierra HD to remain in production through the 2027 model year.
