The third-generation GMC Canyon enters its third model year for 2025, bringing with it a few noteworthy changes, including a shift for the GMC Canyon AT4X off-roader from a trim level to an optional package upgrade. What’s more, the 2025 GMC Canyon will debut three new paint options. These three new hues will replace three colors previously offered for the 2024 model year.
For the 2025 model year, GMC is discontinuing the following three exterior paint options: Solar Flare Metallic (paint code GCP), Dynamic Blue Metallic (paint code GLT), and Desert Sand Metallic (paint code GTL). Solar Flare Metallic was introduced for the 2023 model year, while the other two colors, Dynamic Blue and Desert Sand, have been part of the Canyon’s palette since 2021. Solar Flare was subsequently built out during 2024-model-year production, while Dynamic Blue and Desert Sand were made unavailable to order in June.
As a replacement for the three deleted exterior colors, the 2025 GMC Canyon will offer three new options: Glacier Metallic (paint code GAE), Rapids Metallic (paint code GAL), and Desert Sun (paint code GBF). Interestingly, Glacier Metallic is identical to the Drift Metallic paint option available for the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V / Blackwing and 2025 CT5-V / Blackwing. Rapids Metallic is also offered for the 2025 GMC Terrain. Meanwhile, Desert Sun is also available for the 2025 Canyon’s mechanically identical sibling, the 2025 Chevy Colorado.
As for the mechanicals, the 2025 GMC Canyon is once again powered by the TurboMax-branded 2.7L I4 L3B engine, delivering 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission, with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations on offer. The truck rides on the updated 31XX-2 platform, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, where it’s built alongside the Chevy Colorado pickup, as well as the Chevy Express and GMC Savana vans.

I can’t get past any shade of yellow. Yellow is the color we would paint a vehicle that was full of body filler. Yellow hides imperfections the best.
Yuck
Wow. Choices!
When will GM realize that some of us liked the the extented cab and longer box. I don’t really care for new color skem. Just give us what we really want!
When will GM Marketing Team realize it’s time to build exciting vehicles again and offer an extended cab option, as well as a I-4 hybrid engine option like Toyota. Reflect on cars and trucks GM built in the 50’s and 60’s but apply 2020 technologies.
The Bicycle Reflector on the fender looks grade school
And why is there no 6 Banger engine
Lmao that’s what I actually want
Ppl do t buy trucks for “energy efficiency”
Or to be “environmentally friendly”
If we did we’d get a Fiat lmao
Great to see another year of Colorado’s and Canyons available with the 2.7L turbo. As with the color palette, most people who drive and buy trucks are not trying to be the peacock or scream for attention. Softer colors and possibly more earth tones for the exterior. As for the interiors, let’s get some more options here for colors and or themed interiors. Great examples are Lucid, Audi, Ram, even the performance side of Shelby American and Hennessy understand that performance doesn’t end on the outside or even under the hood.
A hybrid would be a significant alternative and much needed. The 2024 canyon without a sunroof tends to suffer from roof denting in commercial car washes. GM has not offered a solution as I hav had mine repaired two times after factory fix. Poor customer care.
The new color options are Awful ,How about a burgundy or granite ,who come up with this crap. gen z
when will the 2025 cay hit the dealers lot?
has the 2025 canyon started the production today
When can we see the three new colors? I’d like to see Desert Sun. Is it an orange or some kind of copper?
