The 2024 GMC Canyon debuts a few important updates and changes over the 2023 Canyon, dropping in as the second model year for the pickup’s latest third generation. Notably, GM Authority has learned that the 2024 GMC Canyon is no longer available to order in Solar Flare Metallic paint. It’s currently unclear if the Solar Flare Metallic paint option will return for the 2025 model year.
Solar Flare Metallic paint is tagged with paint code GCP, and will be built out for the 2024 GMC Canyon the week of April 15th, 2024. Solar Flare Metallic was introduced to the GMC Canyon paint options list in conjunction with the all-new 2023 model year, offered as one of four new exterior colors with the most-recent generational overhaul. The three other paint options added for the 2023 model year include Deep Bronze Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Sterling Metallic.
Solar Flare Metallic paint was previously available for an extra $495, and was offered as an option on Elevation, AT4, and AT4X trim levels. Solar Flare Metallic was not offered for the 2024 GMC Canyon Denali.
With Solar Flare Metallic no longer available to order, the 2024 GMC Canyon paint options list is down to the following (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Deep Bronze Metallic (GXN)
- Onyx Black (GBA)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Desert Sand Metallic (GTL)
- Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Dynamic Blue Metallic (GLT)
- Sterling Metallic (GXD)
Beyond the various paint options on offer, the 2024 GMC Canyon also offers the new Canyon AT4X AEV Edition Package, which features a number of components from the off-road specialists at American Expedition Vehicles, such as heavy-duty stamped-steel bumpers, beefy skid plates, wheel flares, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, 35-inch Mud Terrain tires, and more.
Under the hood, the 2024 GMC Canyon cradles the 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The updated GMT 31XX platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

I saw one yesterday. It has a bit of a greenish tint to it. I wanted to hurl. Maybe on a Corvette…
I’m sure it’s purely coincidental, but I think I read somewhere the same thing happened to the Chevy Colorado. Can anyone verify?
Weird color for a truck, good riddance.
Now can I get the Canyon Denali that I ordered back in November??
The color looks good in pictures.
In real life, not so good.
On the line it’s called baby sh*t yellow
Don’t care. Just want my AT4 I ordered last May.
Could they please offer the Dark Ash Metallic on these midsize trucks!!!!
I have this truck with this color and I ALWAYS get compliments on it. I absolutely love it and that it is unique. I guess to each his own. I was originally looking at the bronze color but now that I have had this color I am glad I bought it.
