These Two 2024 GMC Canyon Paint Colors Are No Longer Available To Order

The exterior color lineup for the 2024 GMC Canyon pickup includes two tints originally introduced to the palette for the 2021 model year, specifically Dynamic Blue Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic. These paints are now unavailable to order on the 2024 Canyon.

GM Authority has learned that Dynamic Blue Metallic (color code GLT) and Desert Sand Metallic (color code GTL) have been removed from the list of available colors for ordering as of mid-June 2024.

Additionally, 2024 GMC Canyon units finished in Dynamic Blue will be built out during the week of August 12th, while Desert Sand will be built out during the following week, that of August 19th. They will become unavailable in the same way as Solar Flare Metallic (color code GCP), first introduced for the 2023 model year and built out during the week of April 15th, 2024.

2024 GMC Canyon trucks finished in these paint colors will continue to be available on dealership lots until all existing units are sold out. Customers looking for these colors will be able to purchase them directly until the current stock runs out. GM has not specified if Dynamic Blue Metallic or Desert Sand Metallic will return for the pickup’s 2025 model year, though it seems unlikely.

Currently, the 2024 GMC Canyon can still be ordered in any of the following five exterior colors (with relevant paint codes in parenthesis):

  • Deep Bronze Metallic (GXN)
  • Onyx Black (GBA)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Sterling Metallic (GXD)

The date when the 2025 GMC Canyon will start rolling off the assembly line was recently pushed back. Rescheduling altered the start of regular production (SORP) from October 28th to December 2nd, 2024 instead.

The GMC Canyon cradles a single engine choice under the hood, specifically the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque and carrying TurboMax branding. Cog swaps are delivered by the GM eight-speed automatic transmission, with the base Elevation trim level configured in either 2WD or 4WD and AT4, AT4X, and Denali trims getting 4WD as standard.

The 2024 GMC Canyon uses an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform for structure, with production taking place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  1. Only five exterior paint colors? What a joke.

  2. Literally two of the best colors and they axe them. Who is running this place? I see these colors, especially the Desert Sand Metallic quite often.

    1. Everybody knows white, gray and black are the colors that most people want and sell far better then all other colors. This is the case for every auto manufacturer.

  3. You know it really doesn’t matter whether they add colours or take colours away. They are no vehicles on the lots for the public to buy. They are only online in articles like this. Where are the vehicles GM !!

    1. they are fixing the pushed in roofs from the car washes.

  4. just about every ad you see for Silverado, Canyon, and Colorado trucks, they are in the Dynamic or Glacier blue metallic color. So what does GM do? They axe that color. Corporate stupidity is alive and well in the GM camp. Glad I got mine in this great color early on in 2024.

  5. Another Euro-centric idea from multi-national GM…Lets see Shades-Black, White Grey, Darker Grey , silver…. maybe a red… maybe not…The European palette of shades of Black and White is finally entrenched into American car companies.

    1. It’s been that way since the ’90s. It’s basically the assumption instilled into new vehicle buyers that black, white, silver/grey in various shades hold their value more.

The brainwashed buy into this stupid notion and it becomes a reality that dealers stock mostly what they can sell, based on the rumour started by sales people.

I wanted a new truck and held out for the dealership I once worked for to bring in Red and Blue trucks, 5 in all. No colours, no sale.

All 5 arrived and sold in a couple of days and I got the Dynamic Blue Metallic (RPO GLT) aka Pow Zinga Met-1 that I wanted.

  6. Look guys the point is they are not on the lot. No GMC dealership has Canyon pick ups nor can they order them and give you a firm date of delivery that should be the whole point of this

    1. What are you talking about? I have an at4 on order since May 17 arriving this week.

  7. Both those colors were terrible anyway.

  8. My canyon Denali has been in the service at least 7 to 10 times for all different issues. They still can’t fix the phone charger. They tell me GM knows about it but they have no fix for it. You pay for the whistle and bells and all you get is whistles. Road noise from the drivers window is horrible.

  9. I have the Elevation. I got this when you couldnt find one anywhere. I drove by my dealer lot in June 2024 and there were 8 2024 models in multiple colors just waiting for a buyer. One was the blue metallic.
If I had an issue with these it’s that you can’ t build one and get it in less than a year so you have to scour the country to find one with what you hope would have all your desires.
As a side bar, other than the auto stop function which can’t be bypassed until you hit the button every time you start the truck, it is a powerful, sexy, relatively economical and so far trouble free vehicle.
    Thank you for reading.

  10. i dont know why auto manufacturers dont make limited amount of vehicles in different colors during the year how hard would it be to make 3000 green canyons .knowing this is a limited run consumers who really wanted a green canyon would gobble them up .Painting in factory is all automated so only headache is cleaning the spray apparatus and changing paint supply drum out ,i would guess this must be done periodicaly anyway. You dont even have to invent a new color there is a vast array of previous colors from past decades which can be used
