Chevy Express sales during Q1 2024 had the full-size van move up a spot to third from the previous quarter when ranked by sales volume. The full-size van segment comprises passenger, cargo, and cutaway/chassis cab models. The Ford Transit (see running Ford Transit sales) kept the top spot, where it has remained since its launch, with sales up 20 percent for 36,999 deliveries, here as the only model posting numbers in the green. The Blue Oval’s second entry, the Ford E-Series (see running Ford E-Series sales), moved up into second place with a three percent slip to 10,440 units, while the Express (see running Chevy Express sales) took third this time around with a 13 percent downturn to 7,502 units. The Ram ProMaster fell to fourth, down from the second-place showing it has held for the past two-plus years, with a 67 percent slide to 5,853 units. Finally, the GMC Savana (see running GMC Savana sales), the corporate twin of the Express, finished last, as it has for some time now, with a 78 percent drop for just 1,078 deliveries.

Chevy Express sales continued its negative performance of the past full year during the first quarter of 2024. Even combining sales of the Express and the GMC Savana wasn’t enough to push GM ahead of Ford, with The Blue Oval’s two models claiming over three-fourths of all sales. Notably, only the segment-leading Ford Transit was in the green.
As we’ve highlighted before, the Savana/Express is an old vehicle that traces its roots to the 1990s. The duo remains the oldest models in their segment by a wide margin. They’re even the oldest GM vehicles currently in production. Meanwhile, the field is offering substantially more modern and attractive products.
To make matters worse, GM eliminated the turbo-diesel baby Duramax engine, which was one of the key differentiators of the automaker’s full-size van offering. With the diesel gone, there’s now not much reason for fleets or retail buyers to opt for either of the two GM twins. Class-leading towing is one of this van’s only competitive advantages.
Of course a much-needed overhaul would substantially help GM in this space, but The General may have canceled any such plans, even though the automaker previously entertained plans to redesign the Chevy Express for the 2027 model year, keeping the ICE powertrain.
Additionally, this past December, GM issued a “Stop Build” order for four configurations of the 2024 Chevy Express and 2024 GMC Savana commercial cargo vans, halting production of those variants immediately, which may have impacted sales this quarter. Fortunately, production is back on track for both GM vans.
On a positive note, GM has sold more than 3 million Chevy Express and GMC Savana units to date.
The 2024 Chevy Express arrives with two new transmissions, which are the only changes for the Passenger Van, Cargo Van, and Cutaway configurations. While the 2024 Chevy Express cargo van initially dropped the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, it is now available again. It joins the atmospheric 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine as the only two powerplants offered in the 2024 Express. Check out the 2024 Chevy Express towing capacities.
Additionally, 2024 Chevy Express infotainment system upgrades are no longer available, leaving the 2024 Express with only one infotainment option: the base audio system, which consists of an AM/FM stereo with an MP3 player. That system includes an auxiliary jack and two front-door speakers.

I almost feel like these vans are now a "Milton" like the character in the movie Office Space, that was fired 5 years prior but they still kept paying due to a payroll glitch...... they were actually discontinued 4 years ago but there was a glitch and they never closed the plant and laid off the workers.
Probably just trying to get rid of all that flakey white paint they bought back in the 80s. I swear the Expeess comes with chipping paint from the factory.
GM can only thank themselves; they won't sell vans when there aren't any for customers to buy!
But... what happened to ProMaster?
Promaster is a pile of junk. A tinkertoy box being sold.
There's a site that business owners and contractors can provide reviews for these work vehicles. The ProMaster gets horrendous reviews. I remember one business owner saying he had four in his fleet and all four were in the shop for one problem or another. Its frustrating as a car owner to have a car in the shop I can only imagine the frustration a business owner must have with the downtime caused by problematic fleet vehicles.
I wonder why.
Put a 6-cylinder diesel in it and I'll buy it.
I have orders for hundreds of them but GM refuses to build them. They won’t give dealers any allocation to order any for stock .
Most of the ones built go to U Haul and then that makes the used prices higher then new!
Get with it GM and build some vans !
