Chevrolet has announced it will show the 2020 Corvette Stingray in the world’s unofficial supercar capital, Dubai.
The new mid-engine ‘Vette will be present at the 2019 Dubai Motor Show in November, where it will be shown alongside the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer and the market-exclusive Chevrolet Silverado RST Regular Cab and Silverado Trail Boss Regular Cab.
“The Corvette is a performance icon and we are delighted to showcase the 2020 Stingray, an evolution of the nameplate that drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history,” said Chevrolet’s Middle East brand boss, Kelly MacDonald. “With its new mid-engine configuration, it is poised to blow away Corvette fans. The Dubai International Motor Show is the perfect opportunity for us to connect with passionate car enthusiasts from across the Middle East and demonstrate the engineering innovation that our latest line-up represents.”
MacDonald also hinted that Chevrolet has some other new, yet-to-be-announced products to show in Dubai, which sound like they could also be exclusive offerings for its Middle Eastern buyers.
“We have a few more surprises up our sleeves for car lovers across the region, so stay tuned,” she said.
As you likely already know, the 2020 Corvette Stingray features a new midship-mounted 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine, which produces 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the optional performance exhaust system. Power is routed through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to the rear wheels. It will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.92s when equipped with the optional Z51 Performance Package, while top speed sits at a Ferrari-rivaling 194 mph.
It’s not clear if Chevrolet will also display the 2020 Corvette Convertible in Dubai, though considering the dry, sunny weather in the region, it seems like it would be a good idea for General Motors to send one over.
The 2019 Dubai Motor Show will kick off on November 12 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
