Cold Air Inductions, also well-known as CAI, is offering a new cold air intake to help develop rip-snorting performance in the 2019 through 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2019 through 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks, and which installs with no vehicle modifications needed.
The CAI Turbo 2.7L Engine Intake Kit is designed to be compatible with Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups motivated by the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which now has TurboMax branding and develops 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
The Engine Intake Kit is designed to create a cool, dense air charge for the engine so it will develop additional horsepower and torque. A crisper, more enjoyable throttle response also results, according to Cold Air Inductions, while the engine will produce a more aggressive sound. The intake achieves this with thermal-coated tubes and aluminum air boxes that cut back on heat soak.
For the user’s convenience, the intake also includes a built-in clear window to make it easy to inspect the intake filter. A clean filter can be verified or a dirty filter spotted and recharged without needing to disassemble any part of the component to complete the inspection.
The company manufactures the air intake in the U.S., aiming for OEM quality levels when it comes to materials, fit, and function. It is made for an easy fit and requires no modifications to the Chevy Silverado 1500 or GMC Sierra 1500 engine for installation. The intake package contains the following individual components:
- Aluminum Air Box with Clear Inspection Window
- Thermal Coated Intake Tube
- High Performance Air Filter
- Inlet/Duct
The intake is not CARB compliant and therefore isn’t 50-state legal, with its use banned in California and any other states or locations that have adopted CARB regulatory standards. Installation is designed to be as easy as possible, though some mechanical knowledge is a must. Cold Air Inductions made an installation video for the intake that you can view here:
CAI says that its cold air intake is designed for Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 “owners looking a perfect blend of performance, convenience, and aesthetics.”

A CAI will do minimum for performance, but I have been waiting for turbo upgrade for the LB3. Yet nobody has one.
There was always questions about oiled filters causing trouble codes. GM okay with customers installing these?
For better performance install a 5.3!
Get the 6.2 ,go all the way, in my Yukon I get 22m.p.g. on the hwy.18 m.p. g. around town !
and people are busting 30 MPG with ease on the highway with the 2.7. Your point?
Cold air intake on a 4 banger….lipstick on a pig.
