GM Mexico sales increased 21 percent to 16,562 units in May 2024 compared to May 2023 results. Sales increased at the Chevrolet and Buick brands while decreasing Cadillac and GMC.
Brand & Model Sales
Chevrolet sales increased 23.96 percent to 15,564 units:
- Chevrolet Aveo sales increased 109.79 percent to 4,798 units
- The Mexico-market Aveo is a vehicle manufactured by China’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture
- Chevrolet Blazer sales increased 28.26 percent to 59 units
- Chevrolet Bolt EUV sales increased 60 percent to 32 units
- Chevrolet Camaro sales decreased 100 percent to 0 units
- Chevrolet Captiva sales decreased 23.02 percent to 1,207 units
- Chevrolet Cavalier sales increased 62.78 percent to 293 units
- Chevrolet Colorado sales increased 464.86 percent to 209 units
- Chevrolet Corvette sales increased 150 percent to 5 units
- Chevrolet Express sales decreased 31.25 percent to 11 units
- Chevrolet Groove sales increased 9.33 percent to 1,055 units
- Chevrolet Montana sales totaled 316 units
- Chevrolet Onix sales decreased 25.01 percent to 1,412 units
- Chevrolet S10 Max sales decreased 5.71 percent to 1,652 units
- The S10 Max is a midsize pickup imported from China, where it is sold as Maxus T70
- Chevrolet Silverado sales increased 55.16 percent to 1,353 units
- Silverado sales include sales of the Silverado (available only in the Work Truck trim in Mexico) and the up-level Chevrolet Cheyenne (non-Work Truck models)
- Silverado sales totaled 1,184 units
- Cheyenne sales totaled 169 units
- Chevrolet Suburban sales decreased 42.08 percent to 128 units
- Chevrolet Tahoe sales decreased 19.13 percent to 93 units
- Chevrolet Tornado Van sales decreased 0.51 percent to 1,563 units
- The Tornado Van is a small minivan imported from China, where it is sold as Wuling Hongguang V
- Chevrolet Tracker sales decreased 13.2 percent to 809 units
- Chevrolet Traverse sales decreased 32.5 percent to 27 units
- Chevrolet Trax sales increased 1131.82 percent to 542 units
Cadillac sales decreased 29.13 percent to 90 units:
- Cadillac Escalade sales decreased 28.87 percent to 69 units
- Cadillac Lyriq sales totaled 7 units
- Cadillac XT4 sales decreased 71.43 percent to 4 units
- Cadillac XT5 sales decreased 37.5 percent to 10 units
- Cadillac does not offer the CT4, CT5 or XT6Â models in Mexico
Buick sales increased 131.3 percent to 266 units:
- Buick Enclave sales decreased 32.35 percent to 23 units
- Buick Encore sales decreased 12.9 percent to 54 units
- Encore sales in Mexico include sales of the Buick Encore GX
- Buick Envision sales increased 147.37 percent to 47 units
- Buick Envista sales totaled 142 units
GMC sales decreased 24.38 percent to 642 units:
- GMC Acadia sales decreased 57.14 percent to 18 units
- GMC Canyon sales totaled 103 units
- GMC Sierra sales decreased 50.75 percent to 261 units
- GMC Terrain sales decreased 9.04 percent to 171 units
- GMC Yukon sales decreased 5.13 percent to 37 units
- GMC Yukon XL sales increased 4 percent to 52 units
- The GMC Savana is not offered in Mexico
During the first five months of the 2024 calendar year, GM Mexico sales increased 23 percent to 83,020 units.

The GM Authority Take
GM Mexico’s strong May sales growth continues the expansion of the automaker’s positive performance in the Latin American country, where it has accumulated an outstanding streak of 16 consecutive monthly increases. GM Mexico’s volume during the past month increased by almost 3,000 units year-over-year and represents another outstanding result that maintains the company’s good level of competitiveness, despite the decrease in sales of the GMC and Cadillac brands.
Once again, positive GM Mexico sales performance in May was led by a notable increase in sales for the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo, which consolidates its position as the company’s best-selling vehicle in the Mexican market. The new-generation Aveo sold more than twice as many units as the same month last year, achieving no less than 2,511 more deliveries. Also notable was the dramatic four-digit increase of the all-new Chevy Trax, which was the manufacturer’s fastest-growing nameplate both in the month and in the year-to-date total.
For its part, the Chevy Silverado once again achieved a high monthly result that once again makes it the best-selling full-size truck in Mexico. The Silverado’s good run positively impacts the entire Chevrolet pickup lineup that is becoming increasingly competitive, including the significant triple-digit increase of the new Chevy Colorado and a volume that represents one of its best results in the Mexican market.
