After the global debut of the vehicle on February 13th and a couple of months after the launch of the hatchback version in the Latin country, General Motors has just officially launched the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan in Mexico.
The automaker’s Mexican subsidiary launched the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan this week, completing the model range in the domestic market of that country, where the new-generation Aveo was introduced for the first time as a five-door hatchback while the outgoing sedan model was discontinued. The 2024 Aveo sedan arrives in Mexico to strengthen Chevrolet’s commitment to lead sales in the country’s most popular segment.
“We are very happy with the reception that the market has given to the new Chevrolet Aveo 2024, a completely renovated car that is already on its way to becoming the favorite of Mexicans and that with its hatchback version has captured the taste of many new customers,” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager at GM Mexico, Wilberto del Ángel. “The sedan’s arrival will also be a success, since its design and equipment are just what segment customers are looking for,” he added.
Like the hatchback version, the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan launches in Mexico with three trim levels: LS Manual, LT Manual, and LT Plus. They all come with many standard features like an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, six airbags, stability control, a reversing camera and park assist, among other things. The trunk has a capacity of 475 liters or 16.77 cubic feet and the rear seats fold down to further increase cargo volume.
Mechanically, the 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan also shares the same offerings as the two-box model, including a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that develops 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. This block can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic exclusive, the latter being exclusive to range-topping LT Plus trim.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan will be available for sale in June throughout the extensive network of official Chevrolet dealers in Mexico, the main and largest volume market for the nameplate. All units of the new-generation Aveo are manufactured by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture at the Tianjin plant in China, from where they are imported for sale in the Mexican market.
Here is pricing for the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo sedan’s three trim levels in Mexico:
- 2024 Aveo LS Manual: 285,900 pesos (about $16,270 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Aveo LT Manual: 305,900 pesos ($17,400 USD)
- 2024 Aveo LT Plus: 334,900 pesos ($19,050 USD)

These cars would sell well in Canada and the USA to replace the discontinued Spark and Sonic
I realize that is the mission of the Trax , but many seniors or people in the city where parking and space is a premium, are just looking for the smaller size . I look around my community and the number of late model Sparks in driveways is amazing. In talking to owners ( most are empty nesters or young first time drivers) they love these cars , the reliability, the size, easy to drive, etc. I work PT for a transportation society so get a lot of opportunity to talk with owners. For many of the current Spark owners the new Trax will be too large.
I agree kirk. GM/Chevy really needs to bring this sedan and hatch to the US and keep the max price under 20 grand.
Not everyone wants huge SUV’s. Not everyone wants sports cars with 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Not everyone wants a vehicle that has 20″ or larger rims. Not everyone wants a wall to wall screen. But you know what a lot of people do want and need? A dependable and low cost, efficient small car.
Sadly GM wont bring this subcompact sedan and hatchback to US and Canada without significant upgrades to meet mandated requirements as its specifically a GEM product and made in China. Also its 98hp 105lb/ft engine while giving good fuel economy is woefully underpowered. I’d really like to see a tuner drop either a 175hp 1.5l turbo or a 250hp 2.0l turbo in a Aveo hatchback with brakes and suspension upgrades.
Evo69: The problem with doing that is you then get right back to where we are now: Over-priced and too large of vehicles for many people.
The economy and incomes are being hit in a way that soon only the wealthy will be able to purchase many of the vehicles GM is offering. The company that understands where things are and how things are going will be the company that has (or brings back) a small entry level sedan and hatch.
GEM can likely be Federalized. Dampers can be added. Platform is flexible as demonstrated by Chinese Buick Encore that would have looked great as a World car.
America needs a few low cost offerings and Chevrolet, like Kia, should be offering a few sedans. This is a nice little car that is probably good quality. Most people my age want SUVs but I only like sedans & wagons (with a few exceptions)
This is not a Spark, not nearly as small.
This Aveo is 164 inches long. The Trax is a mere three inches longer (167″).
The width is much less than than the Trax at 66″
The exterior dimensions are very close to the Sonic sedan and hatchback
Again, I think this would be a great replacement for both the Sonic and the Spark.
While the 5 door is certainly longer than the current Spark it would be over a foot shorter than the Trax and 5″ narrower.
The missing segment is a cheap highway car/hatch that out-aero’s a Prius.
The Trax is a good value, but very jack of many trades.
At this point, I say make the cheap city vehicle a de-contented Trailblazer.
Is it just me or do the tires seem really small?
They are, likely 15’s has the same look as the discontinued Sonic Sedan.
Smaller wheels helps keep weight down and better fuel economy for a small vehicle .
Similar to the Hyundai Venu.
no Simon, i asked that too… seems too tiny for me.
Like was said, smaller wheels help save weight, cost, and fuel consumption. We’re all just used to wheels growing bigger to the point where 18″ on a compact sedan is normal. Could be worse though, I think the Mitsubishi Mirage and last-gen Versa wheels are smaller than this.
I would like to have them I’m the usa and Canada. Small cars should come back .
People didn’t buy them before, they lost automakers money, and the ones left don’t sell well either. There is no logic in bringing them back. Downvote me if it makes you feel better, won’t change anything.
GetReal: Sorry, but that’s such a worn out and over-used excuse. All brands (and not just in cars) have loss leaders. Part of doing business is the cost of bringing in new customers and retaining old customers. This is what GM just doesn’t get and Toyota/Honda sadly do. So to address your specific comment. First, people did buy them before. In fact, they used to buy them in huge numbers. But the more recent numbers for smaller cars (sedan/hatch) were still better than many of the CUV/SUV’s being sold today. I keep asking this. How long will GM keep these low volume CUV/SUV’s around? And why?
Second, even if they did lose money on them (which I don’t believe), they are vehicles that bring in new customers/first time buyers and that is a good thing. If you make a good product and treat your customers well, they normally stay within that brand and buy more down the road. Those same customers normally move up to a bigger and more expensive Chevy, then maybe to Buick and hopefully even to Cadillac down the road. These same customers also refer family/friends. These same customers also have their car serviced which is another source of income.
So your worn out and sad excuse is just that: worn out and sad. GM is just too determined to drive lower priced buyers away in search of the wealthy. When that bubble pops, GM will be once again in a world of hurt.
GM is in the car business to make money like any other company. If they can sell every truck and SUV/CUV they can build, what motivation do they have to build anything smaller or cheaper? I’m not saying I like it that way, I think GM should diversify their product line like Hyundai/Toyota/etc. do. But until more trucks and SUVs are sitting on the dealer lot (already starting to happen with full-size pickups), don’t expect GM to go back to small cars.
This is true.. if Chevy felt the Sonic was worth replacing in the US, they would’ve brought the Onix up here already. They found most people will pay more for an SUV body style so they went with that.
If your a car person that wants an Aveo you are a loser. Ride a lawn mower and cut your grass.
IS IT THE WHEELS NOT TOO SMALL ???
Yes they are small.
INDEED ASKED MY WIFE AND MY SISTER WHAT IS WRONG WITH PICTURE AND CAR… both said it is photoshop photomontage because the windows of purple house are too big compared…. they did not noticed the tiny wheels… then took my CS2 and increased the wheels among other adjustments… and showed… they said “now seems nicier”… then took attention for wheels, they admired herselves and said indeed not noticed how small they are … unfortunate can not upload the worked pic here because GMA there is no this option…. Point is GM around the world and other car manufactures in past saw me in Design as Trash not needing … now they come with aberrations only but it is ok miss my 12 years old cat than those shiit car companies my cat dead 2 weeks ago deserved my all love those car companies deserve from me the hell
Yuck!
A car body on a roller skate.
I can’t believe people think these would sell at all in the US.
