The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Brazil sales continued their positive performance, posting a substantial increase in March, making Chevrolet one of the fastest-growing major automotive brands in the South American market. In fact, the March results represent Chevy’s best monthly performance so far this year, as well as the third consecutive monthly increase for the Bow Tie brand in the South American country, which is also the largest automotive market in Latin America.

The impressive Chevrolet Brazil sales performance in March was driven by notable increases by most of the models that the brand offers in the country, including the highly popular Chevy Onix which had the biggest growth (up 5,787 units), further consolidating its position as the best-selling vehicle in the Brazilian market. Last month, the Chevy Tracker and S10 also saw healthy gains. Both nameplates were also the brand’s second- and third best-selling vehicles in Brazil during the first quarter.

For its part, the all-new Chevy Montana stood out with the highest year-over-year increase (of six digits!), making it the fastest-growing model in Brazil. March represented the first full month of sales of the new compact pickup in the country, during which time the model climbed straight to second place in its segment with nearly 4,000 deliveries. The Montana is Chevy’s most important launch this year in South America, arriving with the objective of leading one of the largest segments in the Brazilian automotive market.
