Three of four GM truck nameplates experienced an increase in overall sales, with the Canyon leading the way with a 59 percent jump to 7,144 units. While the Canyon managed to post the largest increase in its segment, it still trailed all other contenders in last place in the midsize pickup truck segment. We attribute the substantial jump in Canyon sales to better availability as well as well-received updates to the 2021 GMC Canyon.

Meanwhile, the Canyon’s corporate sibling, the Chevy Colorado, saw sales climb over 12 percent to 24,083 percent. The results were good enough to land the Colorado in third place in the midsize pickup truck segment, less than 100 units shy of the second-place Ford Ranger.

The Sierra came in fourth from a sales volume standpoint in the full-size pickup truck segment, trailing its corporate cousin, the Chevy Silverado – which took third place.

  1. Sales might be down 1% but profits are up for everyone involved. Lower rebates from the manufacturer and most dealers are not discounting them. Why should they? They can’t get enough.

  2. Ugly and Hideous looking do not sell. Neither does poor customer satisfaction.

    1. Says you, but according to JD Power GM does pretty well in their Customer Service Index, and Sales Satisfaction Index.

      1. I don’t care what some paid org say’s. As a customer I am not happy. Hell, I’m going on the 4th window regulator in less than 60 k miles. My 1966 car is on the original regulator.

    2. I guess that explains why Toyota and Nissan full size garner a whole 4% of the market…

  3. The canyon update looks very nice in person, much better than previous years. The Colorado looks better too. Now if they get the interior right on the new ones in 2023 sales will increase even more.

  4. What do you expect with that cheap, crappy interior. Also, put the damn mirrors back up where the belong, they look stupid now.

  5. I think these number are a bit meaningless considering the component shortages affecting everyone. For example, Ford has thousands of incomplete trucks parked in and around Detroit that I’m sure they could have sold if they had the parts to complete. I was in the Flint plant last night, and they are just barely getting enough stuff to keep running and are worried it will hit them soon too. I have pushed our new truck purchases out because I can’t get what I want, and the prices for new or nearly new trucks are just nuts right now. It’s not a normal market.
