Some Cadillac Lyriq Units May Have Wireless Phone Charger Issues

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq and 2024 Cadillac Lyriq are included in a new preliminary information bulletin from GM, which proactively describes a problem that has been identified affecting the wireless phone charger’s function in various recent model-year pickup trucks and crossovers.

According to service bulletin number PIT6098B, filed with the NHTSA, owners of the Cadillac Lyriq and other vehicles models have brought the issue to GM’s notice, leading to an investigation and search for a fix or solution.

The wireless phone charger in affected vehicles may unexpectedly stop working in the middle of the charging process and fail to fully charge the phone. The reasons for this issue are currently unclear, including to General Motors. However, the number of reports suggests that it is indeed a problem affecting at least a portion of the model’s production.

The Cadillac Lyriq units subject to the phone charger problem should not be repaired at this time. Dealerships are instructed not to replace any parts when customers describe the issue affecting their Lyriq. The General’s apology should be given to the vehicle owner and the customer should be told that a remedy is being developed and will be offered as soon as possible.

Dealerships can carry out verification of the problem even though they do not repair the vehicle at the current time. If the vehicle is still under warranty, the service personnel can inspect the wireless phone charger to determine involvement. This process requires approximately 12 minutes to complete.

The General Motors engineering department is now looking at the Lyriq and other affected models in search of answers about what is causing the wireless phone charger to glitch. Once this is determined, a solution will be developed and all necessary information to fix the issue will be included in an updated service bulletin provided at that time.

The geographic extent of the problem is limited to North America, at least currently, with Cadillac Lyriq units in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico potentially involved. All drivetrain configurations of the EV crossover are included. Meanwhile, certain Chevrolet and GMC trucks and crossovers also suffer from the issue.

  1. Known issue on Facebook Lyriq owners group. Many complain. Patch is to put something small in bottom of slot raising the level of the bottom about 1/4″ to 1/2″. I use the paper tube off a dog waste plastic bag roll!
