Some 2024 Corvette Units Need A Serial Data Gateway Module Replacement

GM has issued a Service Update related to a fix for an issue with the Serial Data Gateway Module in certain affected units of the 2024 Chevy Corvette. Although the Corvette’s C8 generation has been around since the 2020 model year, this service update only applies to 2024 Corvette models.

Tagged with service update number N242470190, some 2024 Chevy Corvette units may been built with a Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) that’s incompatible with the vehicle’s software. The correction outlined in the service update involves Corvette-certified Chevy dealers replacing the SDGM (part number 13552977) in affected units.

The number of units affected is unclear at this point. The program is in effect until December 31st, 2026. Notably, some 2024 Chevy Silverado EV and 2024 GMC Hummer EV units – both Pickup and SUV models – are involved in the service bulletin.

The most important change introduced by the 2024 model year is the debut of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, the first-ever hybrid-powered, all-wheel-drive Corvette model ever offered from the factory. Just behind the cabin, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray cradles the same naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine equipped by the C8 Corvette Stingray, but in the E-Ray, this powerplant combos with a single front-mounted electric motor and 1.9 kWh battery system, bringing peak output to 655 horsepower.

As before, the 2024 Corvette lineup also includes the highly track-capable C8 Corvette Z06, featuring the high-revving naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine. Peak output in the C8 Z06 is rated at 670 horsepower and 470 pound-feet, with a redline set at 8,600 rpm.

Finally, customers are also offered the C8 Corvette Stingray, once again packing the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, which produces 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque in standard form.

All C8 Corvette variants ride on the GM Y2 platform, with Corvette production taking place exclusively at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky. Production of the 2024 Corvette began on September 5th, 2023.

  1. Is this the module that sends all the driving data to insurance companies?
Maybe an excessive number of people learned how to deactivate the transfer of venicle data?

  2. Sadly, I kinda stopped driving my 2021 C8 after the data report sent to insurance showed my driving habits. And my rates went sky high. Although I have opted out of everyrhing. It is still sending oil life data which triggers dealer emails that include specific vehicle health data. My next step is to open both front fenders and disconnect the XM and other antennas that transmit data. When my car finally stops sending telemetry to dealers, Chevy, and anyone else, I will be able to drive with peace of mind.
