The GM Authority Take
GMC Canada sales continued their negative trend during the second quarter of the year, as did the rest of the General Motors brands in the north-most country of North America. With this performance, GMC accumulates more than two consecutive years of contractions in the Canadian market, a situation that has been accentuated in the first two quarters of 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the second quarter, each of GMC’s six nameplates suffered a notable contraction in sales. In particular, the Yukon XL and Acadia were hit the hardest with drops of 71 and 58 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the GMC model with the smallest drop during the quarter was the Canyon. In fact, it was the only model that did not register a double-digit contraction.
Despite the negative performance, it is worth noting that the GMC Sierra remained GM’s best-selling model in Canada – both during the second quarter of 2020 as well as during the first six months of the year, outperforming the Chevrolet Silverado. By comparison, the Silverado delivered 12,378 units in the second quarter and a total of 23,549 units during the first half of the year. These figures represent 500 and 1,143 fewer units than the Sierra, respectively.

Comments
Doesn’t help that inventory is at roughly 40% of what it usually is, and it’s taking forever to get stock in.
Canadians aren’t terribly happy with GM nowadays, given what’s happened at the Oshawa assembly plant. There are fewer justifications to buy a GM vehicle in Canada now.
Oshawa was GM in Canada.
No Oshawa no GM
