The GM Authority Take

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Chevrolet Brazil sales decreased significantly in April, which represented the first full month of quarantine in the country. The negative performance is in line with the reduction in auto sales experienced the Brazilian auto industry, which posted a cumulative 76 percent decline. The 10,008 units sold represent the lowest figure Chevrolet has registered in the South American country in the last 20 years.

The absolute majority of Chevrolet’s models recorded significant double and triple digit falls in April, including the popular Chevrolet Onix, which maintained its position as Brazil’s best-selling vehicle and undisputed leader.

Additionally, the Tracker stood out for registering the smallest sales decline, becoming the country’s best-selling utility vehicle thanks to the recent arrival of the all-new model. Despite challenging circumstances, Chevrolet’s new SUV outperformed all established rivals in its first full month in the Brazilian market.

  1. Just a note: Chevrolet is the best-selling brand, but FCA is the best-selling automaker. Just in April GM was the best-selling automaker.

  2. Fiat is thought of like a domestic in Brazil but Chevy has taken an expected lead due to strong product developmented in China.
Fiat no longer has to depend on Opel hand me downs. I still, however, expect VW to eventually rally. Seat should thrive in Brizil with it’s better than VW VWs.
