U.S. GM Sales Decrease 34 Percent To 492,489 Units In Second Quarter 2020

GM sales decreased 34 percent to 492,489 units during the second quarter of 2020 in the United States market. Sales decreased at all four GM brands offered in the market – including Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC.

“Our resilient sales reflect an improving demand curve, and the strong efforts of GM and our retailers in unprecedented times,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president, Sales Operations. “GM entered the quarter with very lean inventories and our dealers did a great job meeting customer demand, especially for pickups. Now, we are refilling the pipeline by quickly and safely returning production to pre-pandemic levels. Having an appropriate mix of the right vehicles combined with the benefits of enhanced shopping technologies such as Shop. Click. Drive., positions us for success in the second half of 2020.”

  1. I concur that sales are due to the pandemic. I’ve been searching for a new Silverado for the last three months and the inventory is slim. I will say though, GMC better update their trucks or this decline of sales will only worsen. I’m no ford fan, but that 2021 F-150 has some great updates. I hope Chevy doesn’t try to play it safe and matches some of Ford’s innovative features.

  2. Wow, looks like the Encore GX is off to a great start. CT5 numbers look promising as well, let’s hope the new Caddy sedans gain more momentum.
