The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT4 sales during the second quarter of 2020 represented the very first Q2 deliveries for the new model. Sales volume was kept to a low as a result of very limited availability of models at the dealer level.

It’s worth noting that the very first units of the CT4 began arriving at dealers during the second half of Q1 2020. That was quickly followed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, resulting in a two-month-long shutdown of U.S. GM production operations, including the GM Lansing Grand River plant that produces the CT4. As a result, initial inventory dried up during the second quarter.

We expect Cadillac CT4 sales to grow substantially during the third and fourth quarters of the year, so long as supply/production is able to meet demand.

  1. Such a good looking car! Personally I like the CT4 more than the CT5.

    1. Agreed. The CT4’s proportions look better than the CT5’s since it’s a smaller vehicle.

    2. Agreed. The CT4 design looks much better than the CT5. I hate specially that strange thing the CT5 has behind the lateral rear window.

  2. Typical GM Walmart interior, where’s the electronic gauge cluster?

    1. The typical Walmart customer is not in Cadillacs league.

  3. Cadillac biggest struggles are dealing with their models names. The cars look nice people just don’t know what they are. All GM cars have names except Cadillac. What the Hell is CT4 or CT5???

    1. What the hell is a 911?

      An M3?

      An F-150?

  4. The full electronic gauge cluster arrives for ’21 along with a sheaf of other improvements, more than just color changes. When will 3Q results be posted now that it’s concluded?

  5. Why current Cadillacs finishing at the back of the pack in sales? They were better off five years ago selling high performance sedans. If GM does not stop this sales decline across all divisions they are going to drop to a 15% US market share.

From my perspective Cadillac died when the magnificent blackwing CT6-v was cancelled nearly a year ago.

    1. Agreed. Cadillac needs high performance sedans. MB, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, etc. have them and I don´t see why Cadillac can´t. Specially when Cadillac intends to compete with them.

  6. I actually test drove this model at my dealership because they were running a fantastic deal.
I was disappointed for two reasons: not enough colors to choose from and lastly, for a car costing as much as it does; the cabin was too noisy. A friend with a Lexus 2009, is quieter!
I was ready to trade my 2010 CTS4, in that day! But they didn’t have the color I wanted in spite of the cabin noisiness.
I am hoping the new ones are better in reference to what I expect from Cadillac..

  7. This is a car that should be for sale in Europe, of course with a decent dealer network . Cadillac anounced they are selling a new SUV in Europe. Not everyone likes SUV´s or Crossovers and is not willing to buy one, no matter what. That makes the CT4 a very good option. Also the Lyriq and the Celestiq should be for sale in Europe. However a decent dealer network and publicity in Europe is necessary (in most of the countries Cadillac has a couple of dealers only and in some of them those dealers sell even other brands also). Most of the people in Europe isn´t even aware that Cadillac sells vehicles in Europe.

  8. I have never seen so many GM vehicles at the bottom third of the market. In their quest for producing electric vehicles GM is ignoring their mainstream vehicles. In a few years GMs US market share will be down to 15%. When the PSA/FCA merger goes through GM will drop to fifth place in international sales!

GM had lost their economy of scale. They are now not large enough to survive. I am now scared off from ever purchasing a GM vehicle again. Why risk buying a new Malibu when it maybe canned in a few years.

How is selling 10,000 electric Hummers going to help GM. In comparison GM sold 215,000 Cruzes in 2018. To be honest I don’t foresee Cadillac ever selling more than 5000 EVs a year.

I now know why GMs top financial officer left the company last month. She sees the same upcoming disaster I see.

  9. Just twenty years ago Cadillac was the worlds top selling luxury car maker and the DTS was the best selling model. Now Cadillac fights for table scraps with Acura and Infiniti.
