Powertrain

There are three powertrain offered on the 2023 Cadillac Escalade.

Engine Fuel Transmission Drivetrain Power (horsepower / kW) Torque (lb-ft / Nm) Rear Axle
Naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 Gasoline 10-Speed Auto RWD or AWD 420 / 313 460 / 624 3.23

Supercharged 6.2L V8 Gasoline 10-Speed Auto AWD 682 / 509 653 / 885 3.23

The first is the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, producing 420 horsepower/313 kilowatts @ 5600 RPM with 460 pound-feet/623 newton meters of torque @ 4100 RPM.

Second is the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, producing a GM-estimated 277 horsepower/207 kilowatts @ 3750 RPM with 460 pound-feet/623 newton meters of torque @ 1500 RPM.

The both engines are paired with the GM Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic and a 3.23 final drive ratio, available in rear-wheel- and all-wheel-drive.

The above two powertrain configurations are available on all trim levels except the Escalade-V.

Third is the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 682 horsepower/509 kilowatts @ 6000 RPM and 653 pound-feet/885 newton meters of torque @ 4400 RPM. It is exclusive to the Escalade-V.

Output of the LT4 is routed through the same updated GM 10-speed automatic transmission and fed to a full-time four-wheel-drive system.

Platform

Like all fifth-gen Escalade models, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade rides on the all-new GM T1 platform, otherwise known as GMT-T1 or T1XX.

Designed for pickup trucks and body-on-frame SUVs, the architecture made its debut on the fourth-generation 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and fifth-gen 2021 GMC Sierra full-size pickups. It also underpins the Escalade’s corporate siblings, the fifth-gen 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe (and newer), 12th-gen 2021 Chevrolet Suburban (and newer), along with the fifth-gen 2021 GMC Yukon/2021 GMC Yukon XL (and newer).
