GM Mexico Sales Increased Nine Percent In June 2024

GM Mexico sales increased nine percent to 16,742 units in June 2024 compared to June 2023 results. Sales increased at the Chevrolet and Buick brands while decreasing Cadillac and GMC.

Brand & Model Sales

Chevrolet sales increased 9.28 percent to 15,684 units:

Chevrolet Aveo sales increased 3.53 percent to 4,659 units
- The Mexico-market Aveo is a vehicle manufactured by China’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture
Chevrolet Blazer sales increased 34.62 percent to 70 units
Chevrolet Bolt EUV sales decreased 37.84 percent to 23 units
Chevrolet Camaro sales decreased 62.5 percent to 3 units
Chevrolet Captiva sales decreased 22.92 percent to 1,221 units
Chevrolet Cavalier sales increased 33.33 percent to 212 units
Chevrolet Colorado sales increased 864 percent to 241 units
Chevrolet Corvette sales decreased 88.89 percent to 1 unit
Chevrolet Equinox sales totaled 22 units
Chevrolet Groove sales decreased 24.4 percent to 1,047 units
Chevrolet Montana sales totaled 300 units
Chevrolet Onix sales decreased 12.81 percent to 1,572 units
Chevrolet S10 Max sales increased 56.68 percent to 1,758 units
- The S10 Max is a midsize pickup imported from China, where it is sold as Maxus T70
Chevrolet Silverado sales increased 38.96 percent to 1,177 units
- Silverado sales include sales of the Silverado (available only in the Work Truck trim in Mexico) and the up-level Chevrolet Cheyenne (non-Work Truck models)
- Silverado sales totaled 982 units
- Cheyenne sales totaled 195 units
Chevrolet Suburban sales increased 1.01 percent to 200 units
Chevrolet Tahoe sales decreased 52.25 percent to 53 units
Chevrolet Tornado Van sales increased 30.08 percent to 1,704 units
- The Tornado Van is a small minivan imported from China, where it is sold as Wuling Hongguang V
Chevrolet Tracker sales increased 12.41 percent to 924 units
Chevrolet Traverse sales decreased 51.16 percent to 21 units
Chevrolet Trax sales increased 59.2 percent to 476 units

Cadillac sales decreased 13.45 percent to 103 units:

Cadillac CT4 sales have not yet commenced in Mexico
Cadillac CT5 sales have not yet commenced in Mexico
Cadillac Escalade sales decreased 15.38 percent to 66 units
Cadillac Lyriq sales totaled 7 units
Cadillac XT4 sales increased 56.25 percent to 25 units
Cadillac XT5 sales decreased 80 percent to 5 units
Cadillac does not offer the CT4, CT5 or XT6 models in Mexico

Buick sales increased 88.51 percent to 279 units:

Buick Enclave sales decreased 30.56 percent to 25 units
Buick Encore sales decreased 36.67 percent to 38 units
- Encore sales in Mexico include sales of the Buick Encore GX
Buick Envision sales decreased 44.23 percent to 29 units
Buick Envista sales totaled 187 units

GMC sales decreased 14.12 percent to 675 units:

GMC Acadia sales decreased 41.51 percent to 31 units
GMC Canyon sales increased 771.43 percent to 122 units
GMC Sierra sales decreased 37.83 percent to 281 units
GMC Terrain sales decreased 9.09 percent to 160 units
GMC Yukon sales were flat at 35 units
GMC Yukon XL sales decreased 17.86 percent to 46 units
The GMC Savana is not offered in Mexico

During the first six months of the 2024 calendar year, GM Mexico sales increased 20 percent to 99,762 units.

The GM Authority Take

Once again, GM Mexico sales’ strong performance in June expanded the automaker’s positive performance in the North American country. Last month’s healthy increase represents GM’s 17th consecutive monthly rise in the Mexican market, a remarkable streak of growth marked by the commercial success of key launches that increased the level of competitiveness of the company and its brands in that country. Only Cadillac and GMC suffered declines as in previous months, although with lower rates of contraction.

A total of 12 GM Mexico models managed to increase their sales during June, including the best-selling all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo and other key nameplates. In particular, the strong sales performance of Chevrolet’s robust pickup lineup in the country stands out, led by the Chevy S10 Max and the Chevy Silverado, which achieved good volumes in the month. Meanwhile, the all-new Chevy Colorado continues to increase its popularity in the Mexican market and stands out with the highest growth rate among the automaker’s entire portfolio.

Chevrolet’s midsize pickup was followed by the all-new GMC Canyon, which also posted a dramatic triple-digit increase and ranked second among the company’s fastest-growing vehicles for the month. Other notable models that also contributed to June’s overall increase were the Chevy Tornado Van, Chevy Tracker, Chevy Trax, and Cadillac XT4.
