The GM Authority Take

The decrease in Chevrolet Chile sales puts an end to the positive sales behavior experienced by the Bow Tie brand in the South American country, where it posted two months of consecutive increases during March and April. As a result of the drop, Chevy was surpassed by Toyota, which sold 3,614 vehicles. Even so, Chevrolet was still able to maintain the lead when it comes to year-to-date sales performance.

Chevy Sail

After posting a triple-digit increase in April, the Chevy Sail fell a steep 86 percent in May, representing a drop of 393 decline. Caused by an unfavorable inventory scenario, was responsible for the overall drop in Chevy sales during the month. Additionally, the Chevy Groove and Chevy N400 also contributed to the negative result by suffering significant double-digit drops.

Chevy Tracker

By contrast, three Chevrolet nameplates were in the green during May. The Chevy Tracker was the star of the show, with a triple-digit increase to 1,021 deliveries, making it Chevy’s best-selling model during the month. It’s worth noting that this is the first time that the subcompact crossover has accomplished this feat in the Chilean market.

    1. Did you not see the near-90 percent drop in sales of Chevy’s best-selling model? The reason for its drop is… you guessed it… CHIPS!

Also, the low sales volume in this market isn’t even worth the effort to reallocate the chips to other countries.
