The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet Korea sales posted another double-digit decrease in June – the fourth consecutive monthly decline in the South Korean market. The negative sales trend is the result of the ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips, which has limited the availability of the two best-selling Chevy models in the Asian country – Chevy Spark and Chevy Trailblazer.
In fact, most models offered by the Bow Tie brand in South Korea were in the red in June. Interestingly, the Trailblazer also managed to outsell the Spark – normally Chevy’s best-selling model – by nearly 66 percent. June represents the third time so far in 2021 that the Trailblazer has outsold the Spark.
Meanwhile, the imported Bolt EV and Camaro were the only Chevy models to post year-over-year sales gains in South Korea in June. The performance represents a considerable improvement in sales for the second consecutive month for both models.
