The GM Authority Take

GMC Mexico sales declined once again in October, which marks the third consecutive month of double-digit drops. GMC’s negative result is mainly due to the drastic decline of the Terrain, as sales have sagged by more than 50 percent compared to the same period last year. The compact crossover is locally produced at the GM San Luis Potosí plant, and was the brand’s best-selling model in 2018.

On a more positive note, the two full-size vehicles that GMC offers in Mexico posted healthy double-digit, year-over-year sales hikes. The GMC Sierra strengthened its position as the brand’s best-selling model with a 13-percent increase in October and a 39-percent jump throughout the year so far. Meanwhile, the GMC Yukon enjoyed the largest sales increase in October, and posted its second-best month so far in 2019.

The refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia has been available in Mexico since the beginning of November, which should help reduce the sales slide the brand has been dealing with over the past few months.
