GM EV Test Drives Available During Los Angeles Auto Show

The 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off later this month, and visitors curious about the new cars they see on the show floor will have a chance to drive some of them, including a handful of GM EVs.

Presented by Ampure Charging Systems, an exhibit called “Electric Avenue” will allow for one-mile EV test drives inside the Los Angeles Convention Center. Four electric GM models – Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Blazer EV, Chevy Equinox EV, and Chevy Silverado EV – will be available to test.

This selection gives auto showgoers a nice variety of EVs to test out. The Blazer EV and Lyriq EV are similar, but the Equinox EV offers a more affordable option, while the Silverado EV will show drivers what it’s like to drive an electric pickup truck. The GMC Hummer EV, GMC Sierra EV, Cadillac Escalade IQ and Cadillac Optiq aren’t on the guest list, but GM’s BEV3 and BT1 platforms are both represented.

Other EVs participating in the “Electric Avenue” test track include the Riviain R1T and R1S, VinFast VF8, Kia EV6 and EV9, and Lucid Air. Volkswagen, Nissan, and Hyundai EVs will be available to drive at a separate test track at the convention. Outdoor driving opportunities will also be available for various models.

“California, and Los Angeles in particular, has claimed the mantle as the Car Capital of the World, and we offer such a rich and diverse array of ride-and-drive experiences to our attendees,” Los Angeles Auto Show president and chief operating officer Terri Toennies said. “As the number one consumer car market in the United States, it’s vital that new vehicle shoppers experience the widest range of models currently available. Auto shows are the undisputed best place to gain valuable insights without any outside pressure to buy. We are thrilled to provide that opportunity again in 2024.”

The Los Angeles Auto Show is open to the public from Friday, November 22nd through Sunday, December 1st, 2024.

  3. GM EV’s look good and drive good. Would I own one? No. Too many unknowns. If GM wants to throw a super cheap lease on the hood for three years with a free charger, I might be interested.

  4. GM EV test drives in the country’s largest market where GM market share is at its lowest….California. Guess they have to try.
