The GM Authority Take

After suffering an extensive bad streak with 17 consecutive months of contraction, Chevrolet Colombia sales increased healthily, with the first increase in the last year and a half in April. Chevrolet managed to improve its commercial performance in the Colombian market last month when it stopped the systematic decline in its deliveries and market share thanks to a considerable improvement in the inventory of units of its best-selling model.

Chevrolet Colombia Sales Up 10 Percent In April 2024

Chevrolet Colombia’s increase in April was largely led by the best-selling Chevy Onix, which recorded a drastic, almost triple-digit increase that translated into a substantial 407 units year over year. Notably, the improvement was driven by the entry-level Chevy Joy variant of the subcompact vehicle, which saw noticeably higher-than-usual monthly volume. As such, the Joy accounted for more than 70 percent of the nameplate registration – combining the first and second-generation models of the Onix.

Besides the Onix, the low-volume Chevy Traverse was the only other model from the brand that managed to increase its deliveries for the month. Almost all other Chevrolet vehicles in Colombia suffered massive year-on-year losses, including the line of commercial trucks of Isuzu origin and the Chevy Tracker, which complete the podium among the brand’s most popular models in the local market. For its part, the new Chevy Montana continues with a flat volume and little significance in the overall result.
