2024 GMC Acadia To Offer Heated Wipers: Feature Spotlight

After wishing for the feature for more than a decade, the heated windshield wipers option is now seen (or will soon be seen) on a number of GM vehicles, including the Cadillac Lyriq and next-gen 2024 Chevy Traverse, as GM Authority had covered previously. Now, we’ve learned that the feature will also be found on the third-generation 2024 GMC Acadia.

Tagged with RPO code CMO, heated wipers will be found throughout the 2024 Acadia trim lineup. More specially, the feature will be available on the Elevation and AT4 trim levels as part of the optional Luxury Package (RPO code WPL), while being standard on the range-topping Denali model.

In regard to the aforementioned Luxury Package, this option includes the following (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):

  • Acoustic style windshield (AKK)
  • Heated wiper park (CMO)
  • Heated rear outboard seats (KA6)
  • Eight-inch Diagonal Head-Up Display (UV6)

In addition, equipping this option on the AT4 model also adds heated and ventilated seat cushions and seat backs for the driver and front passenger seat (RPO code KU9).

The way the heated wiper feature works is via a defroster, which keeps the base of the windshield warm, which in turn keeps the wiper blades from freezing over while in the “parked” position.

As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Acadia represents an all-new generation for the crossover, boasting revised exterior styling, along with larger dimensions in terms of wheelbase, length, and height, enabling more space inside.

Moving to the interior, a 15-inch infotainment screen pairs to a standard 11-inch diagonal driver information center. Additional technological and safety goodies include Google built-in, nine available camera views, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, and Rear Park Assist, among others. The GM Super Cruise autonomous driver assistance system is also offered.

As GM Authority was first to report, the 2024 Acadia will be powered by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, while the GM eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard across the range.

In regard to structure, the third-generation Acadia will ride on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform, which now incorporates the GM Global B electrical architecture. Production has been moved to the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan, and is currently set to commence on March 4th, 2024.

  6. Back in fifties one of the big three had a heated windshield. It was a costly item therefore it was eliminated. We have heated rear window defrosters but for what reason why not a partially heated front windshield is beyond common sense . I asked an engineer from GM that question about 30 years ago. The conversation started we would have to change the pillars etc etc etc. I shouldn’t have asked. With today’s technology it should be on every vehicle sold. This is a safety issue which has never been seriously addressed .

  7. Maybe they’ll get the heated seats and climate system working right in the new one. Mine have been very underwhelming. Glad I leased instead of bought

  8. My 2007 Kia Sportage had ‘heated wipers’ as described in the article. It worked along with the side mirror defrosters – no separate switch required. Worked well but the windshield was more expensive to replace.
