FWD
- LS (1LE56)
- LT (1LB56)
- RS (1LS56)
AWD
- LS (1LE56)
- LT (1LB56)

- RS (1LD56)
As first reported by GM Authority, the Premier and High Country trims have been dropped, though a Traverse Premier will launch for the 2025 model year.
Exterior
The 2024 Chevy Traverse features the latest iteration of the Bow Tie brand’s “High Brow” design language with a tough, truck-inspired front fascia illuminating the road ahead with a dual-tier headlight configuration. The new design elements and body panel sculpturing create what GM describes as “a rugged, ready-for-anything presence.”
All-new front and rear lighting include LEDs as standard. On the RS trim, walk-up lighting animation greets owners as they approach the vehicle.
Among new exterior aesthetic features are a more aggressive, planted stance, forward-leaning C-pillars, 22-inch gloss black wheels for the range-topping RS trim, and, at the rear, bright chrome quad exhaust tips equipped as standard on the true dual-exhaust system.
The RS also comes with blackout accents on the grille, roof rails, and moldings.
Interior
The 2024 Chevy Traverse features a fully overhauled cabin with a “best-in-class” 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen equipped as standard across all trim levels. The cockpit sports a redesigned steering wheel while the interior gets more space overall, improved ergonomics, new colorways, and higher-quality materials.
The crossover offers seating for seven or eight passengers depending on trim level and a best-in-class 98 cubic feet of cargo space with all rear seating rows folded down.
Distinctive interior cues for the RS include a three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, headrest detailing, and a Jet Black with red accents interior colorway.
The RS comes standard with second row one-touch power-folding seats to improve access for third row occupants.
In-Vehicle Tech
Standard spec includes an 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen featuring a volume rotary knob, and an 11-inch diagonal configurable driver information center.
A selection of knobs and hard buttons are located below for controlling the HVAC system.
The Traverse offers wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto compatibility along with available Google built-in, plus six USB ports. A wireless phone charging pad and Wi-Fi Hotspot are available.
Available GM Super Cruise now joins the technology list for the 2024 Chevy Traverse.
A new panoramic dual-glass sunroof with power sunshade is available on LT and Z71 trims and standard on the RS trim.
Also new is an AutoSense Liftgate that recognizes the driver’s presence and opens automatically.
Active Safety Tech
The third-generation crossover is also equipped as standard with the Chevy Safety Assist package with the following included content:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Following Distance Indicator
- Forward Collision Alert
- IntelliBeam
The 2024 Traverse also gets Rear Park Assist and a range of other safety technologies and features. GM includes an updated version of its Buckle to Drive feature as standard on all trim levels, which prevents the vehicle from driving unless the driver front passenger is buckled in. The crossover also gets Rear Seat Belt Reminder for the second and third seating rows as a new feature for the 2024 model year.
Powertrain
Motivation for the 2024 Chevy Traverse is sourced from a single powerplant – the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine developing 315 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. These figures represent a 19 percent boost in torque compared to the 3.6L V6 LFY engine used in the second-gen Traverse.
Engine | Aspiration | Transmission | Power (hp / kW @ RPM) | Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ RPM) | Axle Ratio |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2.5L LK0 I-4 | Turbocharged | 8-Speed Auto (MF8) | 328 / 244 @ 5500 | 326 / 442 @ 3500 | 3.49 |
The maximum trailering rating for the new Traverse is 5,000 pounds or 2,268 kilograms, same as the second-generation model.
An eight-speed automatic transmission connects this engine to the crossover’s drivetrain. This is GM’s nine-speed transmission with one forward speed removed, a conscious decision made by GM engineers.

Chassis & Suspension
Front-wheel-drive is standard on the 2024 Chevy Traverse and all-wheel-drive is available as an option, with Chevy offering a trim-exclusive “off-road-capable” twin-clutch AWD system on the Z71.
For 2024 the Z71 trim is offered for the first time ever on Traverse. It features more than one inch of increased ground clearance plus increased track width for added stability, handling, and capability. The Z71 also features a better approach angle (21 degrees vs. 15 on other trims) and a better departure angle (24 degrees vs. 22). All-terrain tires come standard, wrapping 18-inch wheels designed exclusively for the Z71.
The Z71 also comes with a specific Terrain Mode within the driver-selectable drive modes, Hill Descent Control, and a standard trailering package.
The sporty RS comes standard with all-new 22-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels and unique suspension tuning for sportier ride-and-handling characteristics.
Platform
The 2024 Chevy Traverse is underpinned by the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform. The platform has received several upgrades, including the addition of the Global B digital architecture, iterating the architecture to be called C1-2.
