Cadillac XT6 Recalled For Faulty Rearview Camera

GM has issued a product recall for certain examples of the 2020 Cadillac XT6 and 2021 Cadillac XT6 due to an issue related to the luxury crossover’s rearview camera.

The problem: affected vehicles fitted with the optional Surround Vision feature may have a rearview camera that fails to work or functions intermittently due to coaxial cable connectors being improperly crimped.

The hazards: drivers won’t be able to use the rearview camera while backing the vehicle up, potentially increasing the risk to hit an object/person.

The fix: dealers will replace the coaxial cables free of charge.

Affected components: rearview camera.

Number of affected vehicles: There are 95,231 vehicles believed to have this issue.

Owners should: owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by GM with instructions on how to proceed. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall action, they can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls that may be active on it. As a reminder, the Cadillac XT6 is offered with two powerplant options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, which develops 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available.

As for structure, the Cadillac XT6 rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
