2022 Chevy Blazer Will Feature Chevy Safety Assist As Standard

The 2022 Chevy Blazer will arrive as the fourth model year of the crossover’s current generation, introducing a variety of changes and updates over the 2021 model year. Among these is the Chevy Safety Assist package, will be equipped as standard across the line going forward.

The Chevy Safety Assist package is tagged with RPO code BN2, and includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

For the 2021 Chevy Blazer, the Chevy Safety Assist package was offered as standard on 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trim levels. However, with the deletion of the L and 1LT trim levels following the introduction of the 2022 Chevy Blazer, the Chevy Safety Assist package will technically be standard across the lineup.

In addition to lacking the features of the Chevy Safety Assist package, the Chevy Blazer L and 1LT trim also did not offer the V92 trailering package, and were available exclusively with front-wheel drive. In terms of exterior options, the L trim was only available in Silver Ice Metallic (paint code GAN), Summit White (paint code GAZ), and Black (paint code GBA).

As GM Authority covered previously, the upcoming, range-topping 2022 Chevy Blazer Premier will receive refreshed exterior details, including revisions to the front and rear lower fascias, the wheel designs, wheel moldings, and rocker panels.

In terms of engine specs, the 2022 Chevy Blazer will offer the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine as standard, producing 227 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Higher in the range, the Blazer will offer the naturally aspirated 3.6L LGX V6, which produces 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.

The current 2021 Chevy Blazer also offers the naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV on the base-level L and 1LT trim levels. However, with the deletion of these two trims, the LCV will no longer be a part of the Blazer lineup.

  1. They need to lose those machined rims that have been standard on the RS. Yuk! Just go with a standard spoke (either black or silver)

    1. Silver yes, black needs to die in a fire, that trend has been way over played. These don’t look bad, especially with the style, but I much prefer a nice silver aluminum wheel.

  2. How about adding satin steel metallic as a color offering too

  3. GM: How about adding the Chevy Safety Assist package to ALL versions of the 2022 Camaro, the slowly dying Malibu nameplate, and the Spark?

    1. There’s a NHTSA requirement for all new cars to have automatic emergency braking by September 1, 2022, which is basically MY 2023. EU/UNECE has a similar deadline of May 2022.

  4. When will Chevy come out with a Forest Green color as an option, like a few years ago? I would love to see a Green and Blacked out Blazer, like the Red and Blacked out one (which is also beautiful).

    1. Blacked out, please kill that style. Every suburban dad with a truck around here has black over sized wheels on their truck. Every suburban mom has them on their CUV, and even minivans are starting to add them, that is when you know a fad is dead…

  5. I would love to see a few colors added into the lineup starting with green and ice blue. They also need to put the leather wheel and shift knob back into the optional convenience package on the now base 2LT especially seeing as it is included on the cheaper Equinox LT when that package is selected. I hope there is a price reduction from 34595 or that will be a 4595 jump in base price!

  7. I currently own a 2020 Blazer RS. Will installation of the Lingenfelter Supercharger cancel the factory warranty? Who installs the kit and ballpark figure out the door cost and does Chevrolet warranty power train after installation? Is it required to have all the added paint ( stripes and logo ) mess to be installed also?
